Ask Jackson & Doc Videos

After much delay I finally got off my butt and edited some of the Q&A I did with Jackson and Doc back around NYCC. These two clips are the beginning and end of the full interview (the video for the middle section is not really usable) and are chock full of info about the show and some info about nothing at all. I will have an audio-only version of the full thing up sometime in the near future. Until then enjoy some shaky cam!

Newsarama NYCC Jackson & Doc Interview: Halloween Special?

Also with a Venture Bros. and NYCC related video interview out today, Newsarama has put up the complete, uncut version of their interview with Jackson and Doc conducted at NYCC. As with many interviews from NYCC they don't have a huge amount of Venture Bros. news to talk about (because they are currently making it) but there's plenty of Jackson and Doc and 'verbal jazz'. You heard me. However one thing they did mention was word of a possible Halloween special for 2012, so keep on the lookout for that. Enjoy!

All The NYCC 2011 Coverage

All the planned NYCC coverage is up in the Mantis-Eye at NYCC 2011 section. That includes not only the signings writeup and the press hour writeup that I already posted but a panel writeup and a small offering of cosplay photos. The Ask Jackson & Doc interview will be up eventually as well, but I need to do a ton of editing for that so there will be a bit of a delay.

Official NYCC Venture Bros. Panel Video

Adult Swim has put up their official cut of the Venture Bros. panel from this past weekend's New York Comic Con. If you couldn't make it out to the city that never sleeps here's a chance to see it as if you were there, or at least roughly thirteen minutes of it. Enjoy!

Have Some Mantis-Eye NYCC Coverage

As I get my bearings back from my week-long trip to New York, you should enjoy the Mantis-Eye NYCC coverage portal (or just click the NYCC logo at the top of the site) which currently contains the first two articles of coverage I wrote. First is a quick writeup of the two Venture Bros. signings durring the convention and second is a writeup of the press hour held with Jackson and Doc. There will be more stuff in the coming days such as panel coverage and some cosplay photos (though sadly nowhere near the amount taken at Dragon*Con, and the second set) and ending with the (I'm sure) much anticipated Q&A with Jackson and Doc where they answer some Mantis-Eye reader-submitted questions. Keep checking back, I'll post 'em when I've got 'em.

NYCC 2011 Venture Bros. Press Panel

As is often the case with conventions, Adult Swim held various press hours for their shows, including a Venture Bros. one with Jackson and Doc. I attended it and will have a write-up a few days, but if you want to watch the entire thing then check out the first part and the second part thanks to Anime For Dummies.

You can also click through to view them embedded if you prefer. Thanks to ZJS in the comments for posting these.

MTV Geek NYCC Interview With Jackson and Doc

The NYCC content starts rolling in with video fresh from MTV Geek which took place in one of the Javits Center's skyboxes. They discuss various items of interest such as jet-setting (their theme for this convention), holding microphones and silk trousers. There are sure to be more videos to follow, so stay tuned in the coming days.

Meet Venture Bros. Color Supervisor Liz Artinian Tonight!

Just noticed that Jackson mentioned this, so if you're going to be in or around NYC tonight you should consider heading to the 5th Avenue Apple Store where Venture Bros. color supervisor (among other talents such as Too Art for TV curator) Liz Artinian will be giving a talk:

From MTV Animation to Cartoon Network, Brooklyn-based painter and animation artist Liz Artinian knows a thing or two about cartoons. Currently the Color Supervisor for "The Venture Bros." on Cartoon Network, Liz will share her insight into the animation world and demonstrate her artistic skills.

The talk will be from 7pm until 8pm and the 5th Avenue Apple Store is at 5th between 58th and 59th street in Manhattan.

Mantis-Eye Presents: Ask Jackson & Doc Stuff

During NYCC I'll hopefully have a chance to talk to Jackson and Doc and I want you guys to participate! Much like Adult Swim, but probably with a higher chance of success, you can post your potential questions for Jackson and/or Doc here in the comments. No question is too crazy or too off-topic, so feel free to ask pretty much anything, even if it's not Venture Bros. related. I will be screening these, of course, but as long as you're not racist or something it will probably be okay. Note that you also should try to stay away from questions about the future of characters or plots in upcoming episodes since they don't answer those sorts of questions. If you're shy you can also email mantiseye.experiment@gmail.com with your question(s).

And if you're also attending don't forget the Venture Bros.-related convention schedule and that you can also score a sweet Mantis-Eye Experiment button.

Publick Nuisance: Season 5 Status Report

Short update by Jackson today to remind you of Adult Swim's online panel question submission thing and with some quick notes that season five is moving along:

Doc and I are writing now. And we're writing some pretty good shit, if I do say so myself.

Production on Season 5 will begin very soon. The budget and schedule have been set, we're ordering computers, and we're currently hip-deep in the process of finding and hiring the right artists for the right jobs.

For those of you familiar with the process, once a script is written it generally takes around eight or nine months to become a fully-formed episode since there's character design, storyboarding, voice recording, rough animation, final animation, post-production, music-making and revisions to everything along the way. This is in no way an official estimate, but if we assume production starts in November that means season five will probably begin around September or October of next year (depending on delays and such). Yes, I know, but we've all been here before multiple times. Just hang in there, it'll be worth it!

It's a month old but there's not much news here for two years at a time, so whatever :) https://www.denofgeek.com/us/tv/the-venture-bros/281421/the-venture-bros-season-8-jackson-publick-doc-hammer

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!

I haven't seen a press release yet, but people on reddit say June 4, 2019 is when Season 7 is on bluray. https://www.reddit.com/r/venturebros/comments/b14aa2/june_4_2019/
