Venture Bros. Co-Creators At New York Comic Con 2012

Adult Swim has released their official schedule for this year's NYCC which of course includes an appearance or two from hometown heroes Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer. First off the yearly panel will happen on Friday, October 12th from 5:15pm to 6:15pm in the IGN Theater. The panelists will of course be Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer, co-creators of Venture Bros.. If that's not enough there will also be a signing from 12:45pm until 1:45pm on Saturday, October 13th in room 1E17. Again that's with Jackson and Doc. There's always the possibility of a second signing with Entertainment Earth, but there hasn't been any mention of it yet. Stick around for news on that and any other potential events though.

Dragon*Con 2012 Cosplay Photo Extravaganza!

With many thanks to sometimes Mantis-Eye photographer Vanessa, aka DalekEmpress, I present to you a collection of Venture Bros. cosplay as seen at this year's Dragon*Con! There are some of the usual characters in there as well as some incredible and obscure characters or variations of popular characters, so be sure to check them all out. And once again, many thanks to Vanessa for taking these!

Mantis-Eye Mobile Updates

For those of you who use the mobile version of the site I've made a couple changes and bug fixes that should make it an overall better experience. First off the ability to log in and post comments was broken for a while but both of those should now be fixed (logging in was fixed a week ago but comments were just fixed yesterday). As far as new features go, episode capsules now display screencaps and you can browse through more than the last ten news articles or features by tapping the 'load more' at the bottom of each page. More changes that will hopefully improve usability (such as better navigation) will come in the near future but I wanted to let everyone know about this recent batch of fixes/changes.

Patrick Warburton Spoils All Of Season 5

Okay not really. Spinoff Online did an interview with Warburton where he lets on a secret something about the upcoming season 5:

"I'm not sure," he said. "Something happens with S.P.H.I.N.X. Something happens. You like that? And I'm not holding back. That's all I know. I know something happens. I'm not sure what it is."

And if that wasn't enough for you the interview also delves into who in Warburton's family is the Venture Bros. expert (hint: it's not him) and who on his other show, Rules of Engagement, knows a very dedicated Venture Bros. fan.

Dragon*Con 2012 Venture Bros. Panel: Let's All Smoking

For those of you who want to relive the magic of the Venture Bros. panel at this year's Dragon*Con look no further than Spreading The Nerd, aka kittininja (who also provided video of last year's panel). For your viewing pleasure I've embedded the first of the four videos just below and you can click through to the full article to view the rest. Or just head over to the individual YouTube pages if that's what you fancy: Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4.

These are in the talk-show format of Let's All Smoking which was used in Dragon*Con 2010 and mentioned in my very first interview with Jackson and Doc. Enjoy!

Screenshots From Season 5 In Glorious Extra-Color

For those of you who (like me) couldn't go to Dragon*Con, one of the things you missed at the Venture Bros. panel were a few short, fully-animated clips from the upcoming as-of-yet unnamed Halloween special. While the full version of what was shown may never see the light of day beyond Dragon*Con, Jackson was nice enough to provide some stills on his LiveJournal. The show is looking as sharp as ever, plus he provides some enticing news in the way of future (the hour-long special and season 6) Venture Bros.:

Doc's currently on a train back from Atlanta, but when he returns to the AstroBase, we'll no doubt start talking more earnestly about writing our planned long form special, to be produced some time between seasons 5 and 6. We've already had a lot of "big idea" discussions about season 6 as well, so I'm hoping we get to work on all of this stuff sooner rather than later and we don't make you people wait 2 years between seasons again.

Though remember the saying, my friends, about things that come to those who wait. Something about the most impatient people getting what they want, I think. I forget it exactly, but that's probably the gist of it. Anyway you should read the rest of what Jackson has to say. The Halloween special airs on Halloween (or thereabouts) and season 5 is currently slated to start in early-ish 2013, possibly January or February.

Dragon*Con 2012 Discussion Thread!

Since there's going to potentially be some more news and reveals coming out of this year's Dragon*Con (though probably not until the official panel on Sunday) here's a thread/post for anything you want to say having to do with this year's Dragon*Con. Post cosplay photos, talk about what you hope to see or whatever else you want. The thread is your oyster! That's a saying, look it up (don't look it up). Also if you happen to be attending the convention (or want to pretend you are) don't forget about the full slate of Venture Bros. events, both official, fan run and somewhere in between. I'm actually away at a different convention this weekend so I might be a little slow with the updates, but fear not, we'll catch up!

Dragon*Con 2012 Venture Bros. Schedule

Update: I had the Venture Blog party on Saturday at 9pm but it's actually Sunday at 6pm! Sorry if there was any confusion there!

For those of you attending Dragon*Con this year you'll be happy to know that the complete schedule is out. I've included all the possible Venture Bros.-related things you could want, plus any panels where Jackson, Doc or James are panelists (which is quite a few this year). As usual there's a ton of stuff to do this year, so you have no reason not to be busy having all the fun for yourselves. Just don't forget about all of us back home! New events may be added to the schedule (or existing ones could change), so keep checking back. Also be sure to check here during and after the convention for any news and info. I know you will! Enjoy!

Only Vaguely Related: James Urbaniak In PigGoatBananaMantis!

Beyond featuring the voice of James Urbaniak and having a character named 'Mantis' (who is a praying mantis) there's really no reason for me to post this. Of course those are the two reasons I'm posting this, so here it is. PigGoatBananaMantis! is a short pilot created by Dave Cooper & Johnny Ryan and animated by Nick Cross. It's pretty insane as far as these things go, but the animation is quite nice, plus it's short. Plus James Urbaniak as Mantis. I'll say no more.

Venture Bros Cosplay Gathering At Dragon*Con Parade

Those of you attending Dragon*Con may already know about the annual convention parade (first event listed, scheduled for September 1st at 10am), but did you also know that Marc of The Venture Blog is organizing a gathering of Venture Bros cosplayers to march together in said parade? For those of you who will be attending the convention in costume you should sign up and hang out and march with some fellow fans! You'll need a Dragon*Con badge to participate and instructions on how to register for the parade can be found on the events page. You only have until August 14th to sign up, so hop to it!

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
