Jackson Publick Interview at io9

Over at io9 there's an interview with our beloved Jackson Publick by the indispensable Evan Narcisse. Along with some insights into the show and info on the long promised upcoming art book (which defintely exists!) there's also some previews from the book and a small amount of art from season seven.

But yeah, we grew this underground audience and yeah, nerd culture just exploded. So, it’s vindication and just knowing, "Okay, none of this is over anybody’s heads." And, you know, everybody had the internet anyway, so they can Wikipedia anything we mention. But that’s been kind of amazing. When we did the first live-action Tick, that was a big stumbling block. The network was like, "I don’t know about all this superhero stuff..." [Those reactions] are probably a bigger deal when you’re making a multi-million dollar show for a network, then your little late night cartoon for a largely stoner audience.

Season 7 Returning This Summer?

Forbes has an interview with Titmouse head honcho, Chris Prynoski which mostly goes into info on the studio and all it's producing. However, there's one relevant tidbit at the end:

And as to rumors of a highly-anticipated return of The Venture Bros? Team Titmouse was tight-lipped in the interview, but Adult Swim has confirmed the new season will be out this summer.

So there you go! Summer is just around the corner, so now it's just a matter of when and how much Venture Bros. we'll have. Get ready!

Venture Bros. Season 7, Coming November 2018

Thanks to a diligent watcher and a few helpful informers a video of a recent Adult Swim bump was posted and we now have a rough date for Venture Bros. Season Seven! You can watch the video above but I've transcribed it for ease of use:

We weren't making half hours when Chris pitched The Venture Bros

so we tried to force him to make it a quarter hour

It's a good thing he refused

Another thing many people don't know about Venture

Is that we're still making it

543

days since season 6

422

days until season 7

THE VENTURE BROS
2003 - present

"Chris" of course refers to Chris McCulloch, aka our beloved Jackson Publick. 422 days would place the premiere of season seven some time in November of 2018. So there you go! Thanks to Kiki Canon for capturing that video!

Convention Catch-Up

While I haven't been updating much, the Venture Bros. train keeps on moving. Here's a couple videos from convention panels this year:

Doc Hammer attended Dragoncon back in September and there was a Venture Bros. panel of sorts with Hal Lublin (Wide Wale) and Dana Snyder (The Alchemist, who was not in season six). Check out the first part and the second half when you've got a spare hour. Doc goes into some season seven stuff, but they're still in early phases of writing so it's mostly audience questions. Super thanks to MooseyMooz for sending these along.

In slightly more recent convention news we've also got the NYCC panel from a few days ago with Jackson and Doc. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I'm sure they reveal many secrets coming up for season seven! Enjoy!

Order Venture Bros. Season Six on Blu-Ray or DVD!

It's up on Amazon and it's $21.99 for the Blu-Ray or $17.96 for the DVD. It contains all of the season six episodes, plus All This And Gargantua-2, commentary from Jackson and Doc on every episode and deleted scenes. Also it's been out since October 4th so you might have already ordered it, but just in case here's a friendly reminder!

Venture Bros. Renewed For Season Seven!

Looks like Venture Bros. will be returning for a seventh season! I don't recall hearing much about the show not being under consideration for renewal, but it's nice to have official word of it. It's also safe to assume you don't need to hold your breath waiting for it. Based on the production schedule for the most recent season the premiere is likely not going to happen until 2018 at earliest, but we're likely looking at some time in 2019. That's still a ways off, but it's something to look forward to.

Thanks to Thorn and MoosyMooz for sending this in!

Season Six: Done But Not Forgotten

In case you didn't hear, season six of Venture Bros. finished up last night. Did you catch every episode? If you didn't, I have some good news: it will be re-airing all this week, starting tonight at 1am (eastern/pacific, adjust accordingly for your own timezone) on Adult Swim. You can also check out the extra-special, hour-long "All This And Gargantua-2" this upcoming Sunday night at 12:30am. After that, next Thursday night (March 31st) becomes Throwback Thursday and you can re-watch season one in all its non-HD, kinda badly animated glory.

Still not satisfied? Then head over to Adult Swim's Venture Bros. video page where you can watch the first five episodes of season six and "Gargantua-2" for free! No questions asked. You can also check out "A Party For Tarzan" and "Red Means Stop" if you have a cable provider login (or a generous friend who has one). That should hold you over until season seven, right? Okay, probably not, but you should be used to the waiting by now. Happy watching!

"Red Means Stop" Discussion

Somehow the end is upon us. The end of Venture Bros. season six, at any rate. Here's your discussion thread for "Red Means Stop", the season six finale. Use the comments to talk about the episode, the series or whatever else you see fit. As expected and as always, there will be spoilers, so don't read the comments if you haven't seen the episode yet (or if you don't care about spoilers, I guess). Enjoy, and see you next season, whenever that may be.

"A Party For Tarzan" Discussion

It's the home stretch, or whatever you want to call it. Here's your weekly discussion for the penultimate episode of Venture Bros. season six, "A Party For Tarzan", which I presume will contain Tarzan and some sort of celebration for him. Maybe not though? Either way, use the comments to talk about the episode (which Jackson says is his favorite of the season) or the series in general. Note that, as is often the case, there are likely to be spoilers in the comments so you may want to avoid them until you've seen the episode. Have fun!

"It Happening One Night" Discussion

Oh hello, fancy seeing you here again. It's time for our weekly discussion thread for a brand new episode of Venture Bros. Today's episode is called "It Happening One Night" and it's sure to be a dandy. Use the comments to talk about the episoide or your crazy theories about the show in general, or a combination of the two. Either way, beware if you haven't watched yet, since spoilers abound. That means there are spoilers. Anyway, enjoy the episode and happy commenting!

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
