That's Brutal

Nope, it's not a weird April Fool's day joke (mainly because it's September)! To celebrate season two of Metalocalypse starting this Sunday at 11:45pm, I've decked out the Mantis-Eye Experiment in more metal colors! I don't have much else to offer... I really like Metalocalypse, but I already have one AS site here, and a second would be too much to deal with (especially since the production time and season length of Metalocalypse are longer than the Venture Bros.), so I am just going to cheer from the sidelines.

So uh, remember to watch Brendon Small's awesome show on Sunday (or at AS.com tomorrow) and uhh, here's your daily clip!

More News From Jackson

Update again over at JP's page with more info and news on season three production as well as the usual array of new and improved backgrounds along with a somewhat somber shot of what appears to be a cave with a bloody and tied up person who somewhat resembled Jonas Venture Sr., although it's impossible to make out his face entirely, he has the right color hair and his clothes match some we've seen the late, great Dr. Venture wear. And of course since VB is never a show to skimp on backstory, I'm sure this will be fully explained.

That's all for now I guess.

Vote For Me!

I figure since the last poll ended I may as well see what everyone thinks of the site! So vote in the latest poll. Mind you I don't really care if everyone hates the site, since I'm not about to change it again, but it's nice to know. Reception in the comments has been pretty good thus far though, so I'm not too worried.

Dot Com, Dot Net, Dot Info!

In case you were wondering, yes, another redesign. I've moved to web2.0, or something like that! Still lots of things to finish up, but the site is working and hopefully we'll have less spam to worry about too (no promises though). Also I ponied up and bought three domain names, so take your pick: mantiseye.com, mantiseye.net and mantiseye.info. They're all the same, so don't worry about content or anything like that. More stuff as I get to it!

Hey, I Got Yer Poll Right Here!

You asked for it, you got it. This is how I pretend to have content for the site when I don't actually have any (such is life between the seasons). Vote in the new poll and win nothing except maybe my love an adoration. But that's a big maybe. Enjoy, kids!

Still Swingin'

Yes, I'm still alive! Not much going on, sadly, at least not in the Venture-world. Well, I guess you can read Jackson's update from a couple weeks ago, and look at the awesome image that I have mercilessly stolen (though I did not lift the full sized one) and read about some stuff. But other than that, not much happening. So yeah, I'm updating about having nothing to say. I can do that, you know. See ya!

Everyone Is a Winner!

Except you. Unless you happen to be Justin Epperson, who is the proud winner of the season two DVD. Now if I would only remember to actually mail the stupid thing to him, well that would be sweet (I'm hoping this update will help that). Anyway, everyone curse/congratulate Justin on a job well done! He answered enough questions correctly and his e-mail address actually worked (which is more than the first actual winner can say) so he rules! Also just in case anyone is wondering, I curved it so anyone with 13 or more answers correct (regardless of which 13) was entered in the final drawing. Next time I will try to make it slightly less tricky, but not too much, because what's the fun in that? You can view all the answers and stuff if you want. See ya!

Answers!

Over on the contest page you may notice I posted the answers to all the questions as well as a brief explanation for each one. There's that. Next thing is, what I will probably be doing is a simple curve on the quiz. Since nobody got all fifteen normally I'd just enter the people who got fourteen right in the drawing and call it a day. However the quiz was pretty tricky and one question (number seven) out of 120 entries only 11 people got it right (remember who David Bowie is). So I'm going to drop that one (coincidently that's the only one the fourteen right answer people got wrong).

The next most wrongly answered question was the one about Hank's Batman mask (number three) which was tricky but if you remembered the flashbacks in Powerless in the Face of Death and the very very end of Viva los Muertos! you'd get it right.

A question I do have issue with is number eight. I purposly worded it so you'd need to know the alter ego's of some super heros (though fairly common ones). The obvious ones are there; Hank as Batman, Richard Impossible as Reed Richards and Hunter Gathers as Nick Fury. Then someone pointed out that Dean is a partial parody of Peter Parker (but most yes certainly not Spider-Man), or at least a dorky sort of stereotype and... well yeah it's sort of downhill from there. I meant more of a direct parody from the question, however. And a parody of the hero, not the secret identity.

So here's what you get, kids. I'm doing a simple curve of two questions, so anyone who got thirteen or more questions correct is entered in the drawing to win the DVD. Sound fair? If you have any ideas or suggestions feel free to post them, and I'll probably pick a winner tonight unless someone comes up with a better idea. Yahtzee!

Last Day!

To win the DVD! Indeed! Entering ends at midnight tonight, but there's a good chance I'll either forget or will be busy, and I'm too lazy to cut off submissions automagically, so you might be able to get in some last second entries!

Also amusing is nobody has gotten all fifteen right thus far (and only two people with 14 right), so I may have to curve it or knock off a few of the trickier questions or something. Then there's also the possibility that I have the wrong answers because I'm stupid, but who knows?

At any rate, get in those entries now now now!

Win A Copy of Season Two on DVD!

Yes folks, as is the Mantis-Eye tradition, you can now enter to win season 2 on DVD!! As with last year the contest is simple. Answer fifteen questions and if you get all of them right then you'll be entered in a random drawing to win the DVD (not the one pictured on the right though, that's my the Monarch's copy, the one you'll win is sealed and stuff)! There are contest rules and crap like that, so head over to the contest page to scope them out and also enter the contest. You can enter as many times as you want but only your most recent results will be used to determine scoring! So hop to it! Midnight CST on May 18th is the cutoff, so you have two weeks! Go go go!!

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
