Comic Con Rundown
As if you haven't had enough of this crap already, here are a couple text-based rundowns of the VB panel the other day. If there are any more to be had I'll add them to this update rather than making a new one:
- Comic Book Resource's pretty extensive coverage.
- Toon Zone's far more brief coverage.
- Quick Stop Entertainment has a non-shakycam version of the season 3 preview (as in, the actual video).
More Comic Con Videos
Over at the Venture Bros. LJ Fan Site kuiosikle (who also posts in the comments here from time to time) has posted some pretty good quality videos of the Venture Bros panel at NY Comic Con last weekend. It's kinda like being there!
Comic Con Season 3 Preview
Thanks to the wonders of YouTube, you can check out the extra-special NY Comic Con preview even if you didn't attend. Granted it's in a tiny window with crappy YouTube compression and shaky-cam and uh, someone's head is kinda in the way, but you get the general idea:
I think the word you are looking for is 'awesome'. Also check out the related videos for portions of the Q&A.
Edit (April 24 at 5:21pm): There's an official version of this at Quick Stop Entertainment, or you can click on through to see it here if you want.

Blind Box Adventures
My quick trip to the Kid Robot store in NYC earlier today resulted in $34 worth of tiny toys. While the $8 price tag is perhaps a bit steep for a tiny figure, I did manage to get a Monarch figure, along with Carl (from ATHF), Orel (from Moral Orel) and Assy McGee. I'm not amazingly excited by any of them aside from the Monarch, so if you happen to have a Dr. Girlfriend, Toki, Avenger or Birdgirl, you should totally contact me for a trade. If you're curious about how rare each figure is, here are the numbers from the box:
- » 1/25 - Assy McGee (Assy McGee)
- » 2/25 - Dr. Girlfriend (Venture Bros.)
- » 1/50 - Ignignokt & Err (ATHF)
- » 1/25 - Avenger (Birdman)
- » 2/25 - Orel (Moral Orel)
- » 2/25 - Toki Wartooth (Metalocalypse)
- » 2/25 - Robot Chicken (dur)
- » 1/50 - Lil (Squidbillies)
- » 3/25 - Early (Squidbillies)
- » 1/25 - Granny (Squidbillies)
- » 3/25 - The Monarch (Venture Bros.)
- » 1/25 - Murderface (Metalocalypse)
- » 1/25 - Birdgirl (Birdman)
- » 1/50 - Mad Scientist (Robot Chicken)
- » 3/25 - Carl (ATHF)
- » 1/25 - Killface (Frisky Dingo)
Comic Con Postmortem
So for those of you following I managed to get into NY Comic Con yesterday just in time to see the Venture Bros panel. My train to the city got in at 3:40pm and I managed to get to the Javits Center by around 3:55 or so. By 4:01 (according to my twitter feed) I was informed they were sold out of Saturday only tickets (but I could purchase a weekend pass for only $20 more), but they were attempting to get more, plus I was fifth on line so I stood a good chance of getting in. At 4:20 the extra tickets came out from where ever they were hiding and I attempted to find the proper room!
Expecting to be 20 minutes late I was actually early because apparently the line for the room had been so long they had to swap with another panel to get a bigger room. Thusly the half hour delay.
That's when the fun began!

Live Updates From Comic Con Today! (Maybe)
Well since this was an unplanned thing I have no idea if I will actually be able to get in (two years ago they stopped letting people in because the Javits Center was overcrowded), but I will make an attempt! There's a Venture Bros. panel at 4pm today, which I will attend if I can get in. Check the Mantis-Eye Eye (or just the front page if it disappears) for awesome live updates!
Update (1:28pm): Crap, due to a series of unfortunate events I won't be able to actually get into the city until 3:40pm at the earliest so that may be cutting it close. So don't hold your breath I guess. I'll still give it a shot though!

Introducing The Mantis-Eye Eye
You heard me, pal! Thanks to a fit of boredom last night as well as wondering if there was any way I could update the site with my cell phone. The short and obvious answer is 'yes' but since I don't feel like writing one myself the next closest solution was Twitter which is a silly little site that's essentially built to allow you to make random updates about your mundane life throughout the day via IM or cell phone (or the site itself).
At any rate, as you can see from the mysterious update above (which I made with my GTalk account) it will allow me to make random updates on the go. This isn't a huge necessity, but if I ever need to update the site immediately and can't get to a computer I can punch in a quick headline and it will show. The main reason for this is I may be stopping by Comic-Con tomorrow (maybe) and make random updates about it. The box will display the 20 most recent updates for the last 24 hours and if there aren't any it will disappear. It will also auto-update itself every 2 minutes.
Not entirely useful, but something new I guess. Also if you have any suggestions for other ways to use this thing, be sure to mention them in the comments.

Toys You Won't Ever Own
What with the bevy of Venture Bros. toy info lately, in my travels across the magical Internets I stumbled upon Sillof's Workshop, or more specifically, his Venture Bros. creations. He has built custom figures of the Venture family (sans HELPeR), the Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend, Baron Underbheit and Dr. Killinger. Pretty neat stuff. You might also want to browse the rest of his sites and he's made quite a few custom figures for a variety of shows and movies.
Meet Jackson & Doc and Buy Some Stuff
Today is clearly Kidrobot day, but anyway on April 17th (that's next Thursday) from 6pm 'til 8pm Jackson & Doc (as well as Carl Adams, creator of Assy McGee and Britta Phillips, voice of Bolberta Poppington) will be at the Kidrobot Pirate Store in NYC. So perhaps go down there (or up I guess, if you live downtown from Prince St.) and meet them and buy a couple figures which may or may not be the Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend. Oh, here's where the store is. Have fun kids!
Closer Look at The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend Kidrobot Figures
Over at Action-Figure.com there a nice little preview of the Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend figures that I mentioned yesterday. Also some digging indicates that the two mystery figures (which I won't spoil for anyone who cares) are not Venture Bros. related. Ah well, maybe series two.
