Monarch, I'm...

Venture Bros. Will Return

Showdown at Cremation Creek, Discussion, Part II

And that's all she wrote, folks. Hopefully this one will actually be on AS Fix tonight since I'm writing this post on Thursday night and I won't be able to edit it on Friday night. Enjoy the final episode of the season and here's to season three sometime in the future! And remember, spoilers in the comments, so stay away if you don't want the fun ruined. Good night, and good luck!

James Urbaniak, This Is Your Life

If you ever wanted to know as much as humanly possible about James Urbaniak, here's your chance. Quick Stop has an extensive interview with the man behind Dr. Venture. Everything from his experiences with acting in 3rd grade to his LiveJournal reader to his directing techniques to uh, well, I think it's pretty much everything. Check it out.

So when I first did Dr. Venture - like, the first take I tried on the first day of recording the pilot, or the first minute of recording the pilot, there was just a little bit of a kind of old man thing. You know, kind of old professor thing. And Chris basically said, "Oh, we can make it simpler." And he just kept kind of telling me to remove things, so it was basically just a more uptight version of my own voice!

Sing Us A Song

Two things I haven't mentioned, but people have asked me about them or mentioned them to me are songs of recent Venture Bros. episodes. Firstly, Ken Plume sent me word that he's got 21 and 24's wedding song up on Quick Stop Entertainment along with Dr. Girlfriend and the Monarch's wedding invitation seen in the show. Fancy.

Nextly up on Doc Hammer's MySpace you can listen to Dr. Venture and Myra's love theme Mitre Storm by none other than Jasper McVain, the same who sang Brock's workout song in Mid-life Chrysalis. So there you go! The Venture tunes collection continues to grow.

Viva los Notes!

As promised the notes for ¡Viva los Muertos! are ready to go as of last night. See, that's way before Friday. I highly doubt I will get much of anything done with Cremation Creek until this weekend is at least partly over though. Anyway, you guys will be too busy peeing yourself in anticipation and/or joy to care, right? Anyway, keep sending in notes and corrections. I have them all stored away in my inbox and some day I will finally get around to adding them all to the notes. It's on my to do list, I swear!

Mid-Week Update!

So I was super-busy this extra-long weekend (extra-long because I get Columbus Day off for some reason... I don't even work for the government!) and I didn't get a chance to write the notes for Muertos! Super sorry. Those will hopefully be up before Friday (and if they're not they won't be up until Saturday or Sunday, because I am also busy Friday).

In related news I have no god damned idea when I'll get around to writing up all the crap for Showdown at Cremation Creek, Part I, but I guess it could happen before the next episode airs this weekend. Good thing I didn't start falling behind until the end of the season I guess. Speaking of that, that episode is now up on the Fix if you haven't had the chance to watch it yet. Thanks to the many people who mentioned that to me.

Showdown at Cremation Creek, Discussion, Part I

Edit Again: So apparently the plane carrying the tape of this episode was struck by lightning and diverted to another airport which is why it didn't make it to Atlanta in time to be put on the Fix. It should still air on Sunday night though. Jackson said so. Thanks to all the crazy kids in the comments for pointing that out.

Edit: Okay, apparently this episode isn't on the Fix this week, so you'll just have to wait until Sunday to see it. I have no idea why, but them's the breaks I guess.

Well folks, the season is nearly over. It's been a long, strange trip, but overall it's been good times. I think you'll agree with me that the overall quality of this season has been amazing, and pretty much everything from writing to animation has been awesome. I think we owe a nice round of applause to all the folks who have made the show worth watching. That is to say everyone involved in it, from inception right down to the guy who presses the button to make it air.

And of course this is your discussion article for part one of the season finale, Showdown at Cremation Creek. As always, comments will contain spoilers, and since this episode will probably end on a cliffhanger, you may want to avoid it until you've watched the episode either on the Fix or Sunday night on AS. Enjoy!

How About A Poll?

I've been neglecting the Mantis-Poll, so I finally decided to stick a new one up. This one asks who your favorite new character from season two is. It's a non-exhaustive list, of course, and I'm sure some of you like someone random with no lines like Sergent Hatred the most, but them's the breaks I guess. Updates with significant content to come later this week, perhaps? I have no idea. Enjoy!

Caged Bird Something Something...

I'll make it quick because I don't want to bother you! The Caged Bird notes/capsule/etc are all completed. You guys know the drill!

Also, e-mails. Yeah. I have so many and it is a daunting task. Plus I am kind of lazy with these things. Some day though, I swear. Huge thanks to all of you guys who sent in notes though (I think I say this every week), and don't stop! Catch ya later.

Viva los Muertos! Discussion

Since I was a day late with this last week I decided I should be an hour early this week. You know, to make up for it, or something that makes more sense maybe. At any rate, ¡Viva los Muertos! will be up on Adult Swim Fix in an hour and of course on Adult Swim at 10:30pm this Sunday. As always, there will probably be spoilers, so stay out of the comments if you're a big baby. And hey, since you've got an hour to kill, you can even make some stuff up about this episode!

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
