Discussion: Everybody Comes To Hank's

Evening, ladies and gents, tonight's big, big show is none other than the brand-spankin' new episode of The Venture Brothers television program called "Everybody Comes To Hank's". It's sure to set your tails in a twist! Here's the place where we can all get together and chat about the show. Say whatever you want, but remember, things from the episode will be spoiled within, so enter at your own risk!

For those of you looking for a little something extra why not enter to win a genuine musical record or exercise your right to vote? Have a lovely evening and don't forget to tip your waitress!

Who Would Win: Round 2

Three days are up and I've tallied all the votes and we have the winners of round one! Nothing overly surprising. The Grand Galactic Inquisitor upset Baron Underbheit by 26 votes. The other upsets were Zero/Scott Hall over Red Mantle/Dragoon by 53 votes and Monstroso over Watch & Ward by 72 votes. The closest battle was Mr. Monday vs. Tigeriffic which showed as 50% to 50% but only because of a rounding error. Mr. Monday actually won by two votes.

Anyway, same rules apply, you can vote on each battle once an hour, three days of voting with this round ending Wednesday at noon (EST). Get to it!

It's, Uh, October Madness!

Continuing this extremely long Five Years of Mantis-Eye thing I wanted to make thing for the site that would be light-hearted but kind of fun and goofy. Since the great equalizer for varying levels of geekitude is the good old "who would win in a fight?" question I thought this would be a good idea. What we have here is your basic bracket of baddies from the world of The Venture Bros., all laid out and ready to be voted on the non-discerning Mantis-Eye reader. You can vote on each battle once per hour (based on IP) and each round lasts for three days, ending at noon eastern time (with the next one beginning after a slight delay while I generate them). So go get started! Tell your best pals! May the best villain win!

Continuing To Give Away Stuff: Record!

Oh you thought the generosity had ended? Not on my watch, pal. This week's prize is the soundtrack on vinyl. "What's a vinyl?" you ask? Well, you goddamn kids, it's like a big, plastic CD, okay? "What's a CD?" Okay I give up! Just enter the damned contest, alright?

And for those of you who can't get enough of JG Thirlwell's score you should know that his latest album HIDE, written under the foetus pseudonym, was released today. You can pick it up in Thirlwell's online shop and if you're one of the first to buy it you also get a sticker of the cover art (pictured to the left) signed by Thirlwell.

Capsule Which Way But Zeus

It's up! You guys know the drill, corrections/additions/suggestions and so on in the comments or email me them if you like.

Everybody Comes to Hank's Promo

In case you missed it from Sunday night, AS has put up the promo for the next episode, "Everybody Comes to Hank's". This one seems to promise noir on some level or another, which I can certainly say is a good thing. Enjoy:

Pomp & Circuitry Up On Adult Swim Video

For those of you late comers you can now watch last week's episode, "Pomp & Curcuitry" on Adult Swim Video, free of charge, if you're in the US. As is the custom, this week's episode, "Every Which Way But Zeus", will be up at roughly this time in one week.

(9/28): For you UK folks it's also up for you now as well.

Discussion: Every Any Which Way But Zeus

Why hello! Fancy seeing you here! This is your weekly Venture Bros. discussion thread with this week's episode being the hilariously named "Any Which Way But Zeus". As you might expect, the comments will contain spoilers so enter at your own risk. Also feel free to rate the episode on the capsule page after you've seen it.

And don't forget you can still win a season two DVD and also check out my interview with Jackson and Doc if you haven't already!

Calamitous Intent Podcast, Episode 3

This is a new animation-centric podcast which currently doesn't have a home (soon to be remedied) but for now you can catch it at host Carter Dotson's site every Friday. The show revolves around The Venture Bros. for now so as such Carter asked me if I'd like to come on and so we have episode three. So if you want roughly 45 minutes of rambling and dorking out about mostly "Pomp & Circuitry" but also various other episodes, my interview with Jackson and Doc, Batman (and Batmen), Spider-Man and upcoming Metalocalypse episodes (just to keep it not entirely VB-centric) then you ought to listen. Have fun!

Diving Bell Up For UK Folks

If you live in the UK and love The Venture Bros. you may be familiar with the frustration of not being able to watch stuff on Adult Swim.com. Well, no more! "The Diving Bell Vs. The Butter-Glider" is up on Adult Swim UK. Now it is we American's turns to click on a video link and not be able to watch it because of where we live. We have tasted our own medicine and it is bitter.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
