Season Four Continues On August 22nd

While I can't give you a specific source, a ton of people have mentioned Adult Swim has run some bumpers saying that season four's second half (sometimes called season 4.2 or 4.5) will commence on August 22nd and end December 5th. For those of you breaking out your calendars there are sixteen Sundays between those two days (including those two days) which means the final eight episodes will be spread over twice as many weeks. When the gaps occur and at what frequency remains to be seen, but there you go.

Mantis-Eye Interview with Bif Bang Pow's Jason Lenzi

Not to be overshadowed by Toy Fare, but today we have our very own interview with Bif Bang Pow! co-founder Jason Lenzi. I contacted him with a few questions about the Venture Bros. toys his company is making and he was awesome enough to answer them. So what are you waiting for? Go check it out!

Jason Lenzi Interview In ToyFare #151

Keep an eye on your local newsstands tomorrow for the latest issue of ToyFare magazine because it contains an interview with Bif Bang Pow!'s founder and head honcho, Jason Lenzi pertaining to the new Venture Bros. toys. But wait, there's more! Oh yes.

We talk to Bif Bang Pow!’s Jason Lenzi about the new Venture Bros. toy line, and debut a very personal piece of art from the new season of Venture Bros.!

The Action Is In The Figure

As promised, Bif Bang Pow! has put out their press release regarding Venture Bros. toys.

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 7, 2010) – Bif Bang Pow! and Cartoon Network Enterprises, the licensing and merchandising arm of Adult Swim, blast off for action with today’s partnership announcement that will bring to market a brand-new line of toys based on the popular animated series The Venture Bros. One of the most highly sought after product lines from Adult Swim’s library, The Venture Bros. collection from Big Bang Pow! will feature an array of articulated action figures, bobble heads, and vehicles, each embodying that distinctive action-comedy mix that has become synonymous with the series.

First to be released from the line is a series of 7-inch scale resin bobble heads targeted for spring 2010. Action figures are scheduled to hit the market in the summer of 2010. These fully-articulated figures will include the series most popular and recognizable characters including Dr. Venture, The Monarch, Brock Samson, Hank & Dean Venture and more. Several exclusives are also in the works. More detailed information about the products will be made available in the coming weeks.

Head over to the site to read the full thing. Apparently Jackson has also been working on planning the designs and such with them, which is great news. With luck these will be out around the same time as season 4.2 as well, doubling your Venture-goodness for 2010.

Action Figures Finally?

Twitter has been abuzz (perhaps) with this news, toy maker Bif Bang Pow! has these recent tweets:

New license for Bif Bang Pow! just announced - #VentureBros. [source]

#VentureBros. official press release coming soon with some of the juicy details. Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm! [source]

So excellent news for those of you who have been wanting this for the last five or so years. A press release is coming soon (likely tomorrow is my assumption) so stay tuned for more.

Five Years: Historical Episode Scores

Welcome back! Even though the first half of the season and the holidays are now over there's still some more stuff to do! I couldn't get everything I wanted in during December (for various reason) but technically this Five Years thing can last a whole year, right?

For now we have a little thing I whipped up something to display historical episode scores by you, the readers. I've been collecting votes since 2006 and this list shows monthly scores for the top fifteen episodes of every month from 2007 through 2009. Go check it out and let me know what you think!

The Final Contest

As the saying goes, al good things must come to an end and the Mantis-Eye Five Years Holiday Mini Giveaways are no exception. Today the final prize in this month-long journey is available to win; some kind of Adult Swim bag. Think of it as a Christmas hangover prize, or something. As always, you need to enter anew even if you previously entered.

For those of your curious about the other prizes, I haven't selected a winner for the Brock shirt or shot glass yet (I'm waiting until I return home on the 1st) so if you entered to win those you still have a chance! Thanks to all the participants and have a great new year!

Geek Monthly Interview with Jackson Publick

Webzine Geek Monthly Online has a short but informative interview with Jackson Publick up on their site. The interview goes into the show's influences, where it's gone and where it's going and more. Good stuff. Thanks to the twitter of Stephanie Brown for the link.

Update (12/29 @ 2:24pm): Mad Mark in the comments also kindly pointed out Geek Monthly did a similarly awesome interview with Doc Hammer back on December 15th. I never reported on it then, but I am now! You can read it here.

Take The Shot

Christmas may be over, but there's still some holiday left, plus everyone celebrates New Year's day. You can celebrate too by entering to win an authentic Adult Swim shot glass! It's got owls on it. Celebrate New Years day by drinking booze out of an owl's skull.. really, because if you do win this I can't mail it until after January 4th. As always, if you entered a previous giveaway you ned to enter again. So get to it!

Cigar?

After much delay due to holidays and laziness the capsule/notes/etc for Pinstripes & Poltergeists are up. That's the last one until 'spring 2010' when season 4.2 starts, so now's a good time to get all those corrections and additions in. Feel free to post them in the comments or you can email me if you're shy. I'll be gentle.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
