August 22nd, Now With Source!

Thanks to the wonders of the internet and a web site called BumpWorthy.com (which I had somehow never heard of before today) I have screen caps from the now infamous August 22nd/December 5th scheduling bump. It should be noted that the bump begins with the disclaimer: "Subject to constant change." So, grain of salt and all that. Click to enlarge.

You can also watch the bump here if that's your thing (plus it contains other valuable info). More info as it becomes available of course.

Yeah, there was some highly suspect info in that bump so I'm going to reserve my judgment for now.

I'm imagining its pretty close. Jackson didn't seem to be mystified at the idea of a late summer start.

It does sound like this is an Adult Swim decision to wait so long if JP wasn't even sure when 4.2 would start. What I'd like to know is how far along is Astrobase Go in making the 4.2 episodes and when would they actually be ready to air versus when AS wants to start them? What is the ploy for AS to make the wait so long? Too long will kill the momentum and will lose some of the less hardcore viewers. They probably want to push some other less worthy show in the meantime. Dumb move moron programing execs!

Looking over the other shows they'll be airing in the meantime, your guess is probably right. Many of them are either totally new (so of course they're pushing them) or they're stuff that's not too big (so again, they're gonna force us to like them).

Still sucks though. Something tells me they wouldn't make the Robot Chicken fans wait super long...

They did though. This past season of Robot Chicken got split in half as well. Granted, it was only 6 months between and this is 9 but adult swim is screwy all over. Then again, what other network would air some of the shows they do (including Venture Bros.), especially with so much artistic freedom? Adult swim has issues, to be sure, but they aren't as bad as people are making them out to be.

You know, I just had this nagging little feeling when this split-season deal was announced...it seemed just a little too generous: Additional episodes with only a short break in between, 2nd half in the Spring.

Should've known Adult Swim would screw us over by kicking out the 2nd half until Fall and then staggering (read: dragging out) the episodes all the way into December.

Can VB fans get just a *little* respect for the ratings/numbers we're putting on the board? Please?

The end of the bump reads “who loves you?”. Not them, for sure. Well, we'll just have to amuse ourselves in the meantime, won't we? Uhhhh...ummm, hmmmmm. Sigh!

a friend of mine worked there during the early years, like 2000-2004 and this is just how they operate. The issue then was that the turn-around on new episodes was so long they would air them in short drawn out spurts, so you would see the same 4 or 5 SeaLab , Aqua Teen, and Brak Shows for weeks at a time. I think even the "new" Aqua Teen episodes were all actually made like a year ago.

I see how this works for them with the random shows that don't have any form of continuity, but in regards to shows like VB and even Metalocalypse (they do try to have story) that are actually "going somewhere" so to speak with episodes it takes the wind out of their sails a tad. I think the M.O with those shows is when the episodes are done, they should be aired as close together as possible.

It's a bummer to have to wait so long for resolution on S4, but perhaps this is to give the crew a pretty decent head start on the production of season 5 so that this type of thing doesn't happen again. I can imagine if I was in charge of programming at AS, I wouldn't want a repeat of this season splitting ordeal nor would I want to risk irritating fans further by having an extraordinarily large break before the fifth season. It seems to make sense to just stretch out the break in this season fans were already expecting to give the Astrobase crew the time they need to roll out a fifth season in one fell swoop.

Mike,
I just wanted to say thanks for all your work here. I will probably not be by for some time as nothing will happen for some time. I imagine the 4.1 DVD's will be out in September. I am very saddened by the break. It will be difficult to create or sustain any momentum or marketing with such little content over that long of a break.Let us hope they don't go the way of BSG and sputter out to obscurity.

I'm sure it'll be fine. They've gotten along with much longer breaks than this before and it hasn't done them any harm.

And besides, you can't air the show before it's finished so let's at least wait for the Astrobase boys to finish producing them before we complain that we can't see them!

you guys just cant be satisfied can you? Youre telling me itd be better if we just got 13 episodes that wouldnt have even started yet, as opposed to 16 episodes inside a year? Sure they got split in half but look at it like we got 2 short seasons close together as opposed to a season w/ a long break in the middle.

So, if this is true, I'm guessing there will be a lot of breaks between episodes... If not that would give us 16 new episodes. I would LOVE 16 new episodes, but it seems highly unlikely. Need to find something to do for 7 months.

Wait! Didn't they say that's why the split in the season? 8 eps, then a break, then 8 more? I'm sure JP said that they were doing 16 instead of the 13 of previous seasons. If I gotta wait 'til August and they don't have 8 more news eps, I'll be pissed!

Uhh, I meant there aren't 16 in the second half. 16 total, 8 already released, 8 to go. TK was saying there are 16 weeks between Aug 22nd and Dec 15th.

I had heard the same thing, 8 eps in each half of the season. Wishful thinking that maybe JP and DH would surprise us in the second half. Don't know why it would take 16 weeks to air 8 episodes though... Unless the bump is wrong???

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
