The Action Is In The Figure

As promised, Bif Bang Pow! has put out their press release regarding Venture Bros. toys.

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 7, 2010) – Bif Bang Pow! and Cartoon Network Enterprises, the licensing and merchandising arm of Adult Swim, blast off for action with today’s partnership announcement that will bring to market a brand-new line of toys based on the popular animated series The Venture Bros. One of the most highly sought after product lines from Adult Swim’s library, The Venture Bros. collection from Big Bang Pow! will feature an array of articulated action figures, bobble heads, and vehicles, each embodying that distinctive action-comedy mix that has become synonymous with the series.

First to be released from the line is a series of 7-inch scale resin bobble heads targeted for spring 2010. Action figures are scheduled to hit the market in the summer of 2010. These fully-articulated figures will include the series most popular and recognizable characters including Dr. Venture, The Monarch, Brock Samson, Hank & Dean Venture and more. Several exclusives are also in the works. More detailed information about the products will be made available in the coming weeks.

Head over to the site to read the full thing. Apparently Jackson has also been working on planning the designs and such with them, which is great news. With luck these will be out around the same time as season 4.2 as well, doubling your Venture-goodness for 2010.

Bobble heads? Really, Why bother. Just put the action figures out, don't bother with something as useless as bobble heads. I'd love to see them skip making those if they would go a little deeper into the Venture Bros. characters. There's been so many great characters on the show over the years, I'd like to see a good representation of as many as they can make instead of just the top ten or twelve.

DOUBLY agree. My exact thoughts. Does anyone actually BUY those things?

Hey Jackson, lets go with Steve's idea. I'm sure you want epic Star Wars proportions for your line of figures, right?? ;) I would buy the hell out of that and have all my gift-giving taken care of for the entire year!

So the action figures won't be just repaints of old Mego dolls by Dr. O?

How many people bought "Hommies" just so they could pretend they had some Venture related figure, I wonder.

I'm going to get three Dr. Ventures.

One to keep in the package, one to play with, and one to fuck senseless.

They should make a line of background characters that are often in many episodes. I would get the fat lady that's in about 10 different eps or perhaps the family that Brock shoots at with Hunter's car accidentally.
In reality I want the Great Master's assistant Ms. Manyface as Catherine the Great, Pre Horse of course :)

Whoops. Accidentally voted Dr. Venture in the poll because I didn't actually expect Sgt. Hatred to be listed.

Damn! Now the poor guy has no votes. He would have had one!

Well what about poor Hank? I didn't bother looking at the results either, so I went with Dr. Venture. I don't mind Dean, but Hank has always been a 1000x better in my book.

Yeah, I definitely prefer Hank to Dean. He always seemed like the more rounded personality to me...I'm surprised he doesn't have any votes, but he'd probably be my second or third most wanted figure.

Brock and The Monarch seem like the obvious choices.
But I've always thought that purple Phantom Limb, with light-up clear plastic limbs would be really cool, though I doubt he'd look as good in real life as he does in my head.

Where's Doctor O on this poll? He'd be one of my top choices.

Yeah lack of Dr. O is my fault, I just forgot about him temporarily somehow. I could add him retroactively I guess but it wouldn't be official.

Wow. At Last! Action Figures. I hope these look awesome because I am gonna get them all.

I am a little worried though. I don't want these to look all weird and not like the characters at all. I want them to be cool!

Top of my list would actually be a set of the original team venture. You know what else would be cool? If in the first wave of action figures each toy came with a piece of HELPeR and you had to collect them all to build HELPeR.

I love the idea of getting a piece of HELPeR with each character. That also means you could tear him apart in battle. DO THIS.

Actually that's not a terrible idea, but it'd probably take more time than we think. I just hope season four 21 comes with a skull, if not, there's something seriously wrong here.

Also hoping for the original team Venture as well. I don't care how long I have to wait, I need a Jonas figure.

The build-a-bot idea is being used with the recent Futurama action figures. I have a robot devil head and legs and can't get any more because the rereleases shipped without the parts. And because I don't want every figure in each set. Could still be cool I guess.

I'd like to see them do it where they pair up random characters and give them random accessories like Jackson and Doc said they'd like to do it on the commentary.

If it's one of my favorite characters, I will. Just like I'll be buying a Monarch one when it's released. Probably 21 and 24 too if they get made.

I'd like to see a Women of the Venture Brothers set, with Dr. Girlfriend, Molotov, Lieutenant Baldovich (with nonremovable helmet), Sally Impossible and Triana. Maybe Dr. Quymn too, but 5 seems like a good number.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
