Maybe, but what I'm getting at is maybe Monstroso and KG made deals with the devil and their health issues are ironic fate results. Like, KG got out of his life sentence but at the cost of getting out of life and Monstroso got great power but a body that can't support it. I think maybe the investors are working for a lower power if you know what I mean, and that's why they're magic.

I would like to add something to this:
*King probably did that but it's a double whammy: He probably did get out of guild trouble with the investors help, BUT they made it so he would get cancer. That way he would be forced to spend the rest of his money on a quick death.
*As for Monstroso he probably used his funds to help the investors in exchange for power. But knowing his double crossing nature, they used heart troubles to keep him in their employ to use his special tempting talkents Oct. 25, 2010, 9:39pm

Remember back in the first season when The Monarch was giving his Scared Straight speech and sold Dean to King Gorilla for some cigarettes? And in the opener for this season The Monarch made a faux pas by giving KG a cartoon of cigarettes for his welcome home party? The assumption has to be that KG smokes but there was never time to actually show him smoking.

I agree with your disagreement. The invisible hand of fate draws these two together and while they have their spats (which IMO frankly your best friends are the ones you can argue honestly with), they're gonna stick things out together. I think White cares a lot more than he lets on (because it's Billy and the nature of being with Billy is that you're made fun of and White's vain like that).
I'm interested in seeing whether Billy actually DOES have legal papers now or if it's just a more legal-LOOKING ruse courtesy of Monstroso (fridge logic: why would Montrsoso care whether the doctor performing his surgery is licensed or not). Oct. 25, 2010, 12:10am

ugh, this is already starting to kill me... one more episode, and then we have to wait to see if the series is green-lit for another season... and when that hopefully is officially announced its going to be another 14-18 agonizing months for 6 episodes... I have very little hope that I will see a new episode airing in the calender year 2011.

There's actually a few images there that haven't happened yet. Doc showing Jefferson a picture of the boys (maybe a kidnapping?), Mile High in some sort of pilot's seat (or something) with Hunter, the floating OSI base and somebody looking up at Shore Leave through blurred eyes.

They would be quite stupid to not renew it... the only thing that I worry about is $$ issues.... I'm sure it's not a cheap show to produce, and contract negotiations always make me queasy.

Tim and Eric WILL be done, as far as we know, following the premiere of the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job Chrimbus Special on December 5th.
They've made some missteps in the past, but Tim and Eric are wonderful comic performers and absolute world-class satirists. They deserve as much money as [as] can give them-- T&E and J&D can co-exist. Oct. 25, 2010, 1:34am

From what Jackson and Doc have been saying in interviews, etc. over the past year, it really wouldn't be healthy to hold your breath for a fifth season...not any time soon. The effort it takes for the two of them to put together this show seems to be a pretty self-consuming endeavor. While they've said this will not be "the end", they do anticipate taking a much needed hiatus. Whether VB will return in serial episodes, a feature length, or in print (as origonally concieved) has yet to be discussed.

Back after Season 3 but before season 4 it was mentioned that AS had green-lighted seasons 4 AND 5. Season 4 has mutated into two 8-episode mini-seasons but I believe the 5th season is still greenlighted. I think that was why the last episode of this seasons wasn't super-special -- they would be heading right into Season 5.
So I think the odds of new episodes in 2011 are good, but they will be late in the year. Oct. 26, 2010, 12:54pm

That was an alright episode. I would've wanted more interaction between Billy and White. It feels empty to have an episode with them BOTH, yet they don't really get to bounce off each other like they usually do. I guess those two just don't work well on their own...
I loved Shore Leave though oh my god. They could make a show entirely about him and i'd watch it again and again!!! Oct. 25, 2010, 1:27am

I ALWAYS want more Billy/White.
They both had honest moments in this episode: Billy thinks White doesn't care about him, that he's a leech and is holding him back from success; White, despite taking Billy in after the OSI incident in the 80's and living with him and hanging out with him ever since, refuses, when probed, to admit that he cares anything more about Billy than as a business partner. They care about each other; it just doesn't make sense for them NOT to. You can't be with someone near constantly for so long (we're talking decades here) and not have emotional attachment on a higher level than "co worker," positive OR negative.
And given their quibble in Any Which Way But Zeus, I think the AstroBase might be working toward a confrontation that will either take Billy and White to a new level with each other as partners/friends, or break them up (if only temporarily). Oct. 25, 2010, 10:26am

Agreed ENTIRELY. I feel kinda silly saying this, but just I gush over those two. There's something endearing about a couple of characters who are so well bonded, yet can't stand each other half the time. Although it's sad how Billy disregards White as a nuisance, while White obviously adores him so much and has trouble conveying it. Haha... maybe THAT'S the root of their problems: how emotionally disconnected they are.
But oh well. With any luck they won't break apart (because as I said, I find them harder to enjoy individually...). And hopefully the next episode will give these two at least a TINY bit of closure. Hell, my fingers are crossed! Oct. 25, 2010, 5:12pm

Also agreed. Though to be fair to White, how do you convey feelings to someone that you know you treat like an ass most of the time, even if you don't mean it? I would assume that would leave White feeling like a HUGE heel and therefore he prefers to just not try.
And as I said, there has to be SOMETHING there that holds them together, and they must have some inkling of it. Any sane person would not invest so much time with someone if they didn't think they were deserving of it for some reason or another. This is especially true for Billy. It IS at least partially true that he would be better off without White (he really has the skills and determination to be successful and White is ultimately a slacker). So what's stopped him over the years from dumping White and striking out on his own? Pity? Love? Sense of obligation (White took him in when he was lost, broke, confused, and short a few body parts)? Who knows, but they (and we, if only us two) could definitely do with some closure and hopefully we'll get it before a hypothetical next season. Oct. 25, 2010, 9:17pm

Billy had no memory of the events leading up them living together. He's a man without a past, and you don't strike out on your own if you don't know where you've come from. They need each other- White needs Billy to be a better person, and Billy needs White to keep him from getting too big a head (metaphorically, although the pun is intended).

As of Invisible Hand though, I assume Billy regained the memory of his past for keeps. I was under the impression that Brock and crew tried to play it off as though he were dreaming, but as this was before Brock hooked up with SPHINX (and I assume without them he had no real access to a memory wiper, especially after seeing how big this thing is in Everybody Comes To Hank's), I assume that when Billy realized it wasn't a dream and attacked Brock ("You owe meeee!") that there was little convincing him to re-forget. And in Buddy System, Billy had his Quizboys booth (to which I believe it would be impossible for White to just pass off all the similarities between him and the host as just coincidence to Billy). At this point, I believe he has to, at least in part, remember how he came to be where he is now.

Yeah yeah, that makes sense. Him being nicer to Billy would probably also incite even more "oh my god gay" snarks... as if he doesn't get enough of those already!
I never actually thought of WHY Billy still stays with White. I always assumed it was part friendship, part location (access to ADVENTURE!), part helplessness (couldn't make it on his own: freak, no job, no schooling). Hmmm. But as Mysterious H said, the two definitely need each other. Can't have a Billy without a White. Hehe... Oct. 26, 2010, 12:38pm

I really didn't question why on a deeper level until this episode, now that they both said what they said about each other. It just leaves me wondering if there's going to be more to it than "they're just dickheaded idiots who haven't thought of the simplest solution of just going their separate ways." Though knowing the comedy of the AsroBase, that's probably the case.

A really, really good 'sode. I always miss Doc when he's not around, but the show was great and outclassed Assisted Suicide in every conceivable way. I'm really happy about the way SPHINX featured without being a shitty joke-- I especially loved Shore Leave and his relationship with Brock.
But, ah, KG. We'll miss you. It's a shame both he and Monstroso have to die... Oct. 25, 2010, 1:38am

Always felt, somewhere deep down, that the Venture Bros. never had enough pot jokes or references.
But i chalk it up to a maturity thing. I mean, pots everywhere, and in every comedy. And the Venture Bros. definitely isn't every comedy. JP and DH, regardless of where they stand on it, probably just don't see it necessary to bring up something so topical. Pedophilia and jars of urine are more their comedy bag. And i totally get it.

Speaking of being dumped, people tend to assume that Shore Leave and Mile High were only pretending to be in a relationship ('I pretended to be in love with Shore Leave!' as MH says). To me it seemed more like they were in a genuine relationship that has since broken down, and Mile High's comment in Pinstripes (and Shore Leave's reply) was actually a put-down. Any thoughts?

I interpreted the relationship as co-workers-with-benefits. I wouldn't doubt that they were having sex and I wouldn't doubt that they enjoyed it. I thought of it more as Shoreleave (who's totally into himself and we love that about him) being insulted that Mile High didn't worship the ground he walked on (because how could you NOT love Shoreleave) and so he bawked his retort.

Jackson and Doc have already played the death-of-a-major-character card twice, both in season finales (three times if you want to count Phantom Limb as a major character and even if his death was alleged at the time). I would like to think they'd like to add a different cliffhanger this time around.

From a writer's perspective, I would think a cliffhanger of Dr. Mrs. The Monarch starting an affair with 21 or filing for divorce would be more exciting to deal with than just killing off the Monarch and creating another "what happens to [x character] now that [x foil character] is gone" scenario, which is what the AstroBase is already doing with 21's arc. So yeah, I'm thinking fresh route. Hell, maybe we'll get another glimpse of who/what may have led to 24's death.

24 was a major character in the sense that he had a large fanbase, and was therefore just as integral to the show's success as any other popular character. Just because a character had little to do with an overall arc doesn't mean that VB fans won't be shocked to see something bad (really bad; like, death bad) happen to them.

Now, follow me on this but does anybody think there is any chance at all of a Kids Next Door appearance in some form? And Nikki happened a long time ago. Rusty has since become a heinously bitter little bastard (does anyone else remember that he got that raver chick pregnant from Powerless in the Face of Death and obviously we haven't heard him lamenting about that) . On the contrary, I think Billy loves to dish out cowboy lines/speeches. Remember all the way back to Are you there, God? It's me, Dean? Billy spouted a saccharin-sweet line about parenthood being an experiment that no scientist is prepared for. In Ice Station Impossible, he went on about violence not being the answer when Impossible wanted to shoot Hank. In House of Mummies, he was using flowery talk in reference to sex. In O.R.B., he has the little introduction to the decoding mystery at the Venture Compound. And (arguably) even Any Which Way But Zeus when he's trying to dissuade White and Shoreleave from fighting with each other.
Brock is a bit of a different story, but I guess I wouldn't say I found his speech too out of place. Oct. 26, 2010, 12:11am

While I didn't hate any of the episodes this season and I think they are way better than season 3 episodes I still miss their Adventures.
I enjoy story but this is turning really soapopery. I know the humor's still there and the show looks awesome but we need more stupid adventures to keep things balanced. Next thing you know Dr. Girlfriend's gonna get pregnant with 21's child and then lose her memory in a car accident or something like that.
I know the show's gotta change to avoid growing stale but so many things are changing at once it's a little scary.
Of course I am gonna keep watching and loving The Venture Bros but can I at least have an episode or two where Doc, Brock and the kids just set out to find some hidden treasure and fight a couple frogmen?
Yeah, yeah. Brock's not even their bodyguard anymore. :P

Yeah I miss it too, but the charicter development and is at an all time high. Plus it's not soap, all the dramas legit. allow me to explain:
*The Monarch's been a complete douche latley, even more than usual, and despite their partnership been neglecting dr.girlfriend in favor of his career. Meanwhile 21 lost his best friend in the entire world and has started to realize how the monarch sees his men. So they have a right to go behind his back
*The boys lost their bodyguard and while hatreds fairly competent, Doc is playing it safe now that the boys are cloneless, hence less globetrotting. Plus it's expensive.
*Pete and Billy had fought for years and pete really hasn't treated Billy as anything but a business partner.
*The Captain went from high seas adventure to manning an empty musem while his boss is in space. With no respect.
*Dr.Venture has been presuring dean and putting down hank.
All of this is legitimate and realsitic. Plus Hank got a hair cut, dammit. Oct. 26, 2010, 9:50am

so we're up for a one hour finale, great but - does anyone know whether there will be a 5th season at all? I mean: great show, heaps of fun and awesomeness all around ... but I maybe Doc and Jackson are tired after so many years of Venture Bros? sure, it's a great show to watch, but making it must be really really exhausting. they're doing this since ... dunno ... 2003ish? maybe they wanna move on or something? so why not end right at the show's peak?
damn, that would suck (then again, it would avoid that a great show would dwindle and die like LOST did with season 6) Oct. 26, 2010, 8:30am

My running theory at this point is that there will at least be a season 5 or a straight-to-DVD feature, but the AstroBase will be taking a hiatus first.
Jackson and Doc have stated several times over that they're really just like all of us: fans of the show. This show is their creation and something they love dearly and I don't think they would let it die on a whimper. They have more respect for The Venture Bros. than that. Oct. 26, 2010, 6:46pm

Just occurred to me that Jackson and Doc said Billy was getting an arch this season, and none has appeared yet...a character who was in the background in Tag Sale, they said. So definitely something that's going in the next episode, or just a red herring? Everything else they said about the season was true.
My money is on Chairman Wow in any case, although I seem to remember them saying the character had had something like one line in the entire series, and I don't think Wow has had any up to this point.
Also, just throwing this out there - the Moppets are not Limb's agents in the cocoon. Henchmen 86 and 87 are. Just a hunch. Oct. 26, 2010, 4:39pm

After Scott Hall setting up White as "The Villain" for their battle in Any Which Way But Zeus, I think that would be too predictable. Then again the boys being clones was only one amongst a collection of predictable outcomes after season 1.
Having said that though, who knows how much time might pass in the Venture universe between Silent Partners and P.R.O.M. If the finale isn't set immediately after the events of Silent partners, Billy has some time to establish himself with his new medical papers and perhaps earn an enemy that way. Or, as Billy has now been established as a memorabilia collector, I could totally see something happening with the Girly Mags Guy. Some scuffle over a limited edition comic turns into a fervent revenge scheme.
........I also guess I'll be re-watching Tag Sale........ Oct. 26, 2010, 6:41pm

Second half of season seems to be about filling details, tying up loose ends and rounding out characters.
Consider:
1. We now know where SPHINX fits into the law enforcement pantheon: one person crime - call police, many people crime with machine guns - call swat, super villains in costume- call OSI, super villainy unsanctioned by Guild - call Sphinx
2. The fate of King Gorilla
3. Where Jonas has been all season - up in space on Gargantua 2
4. What happened to the museum of Dr. Venture Sr.
5. More reasons why Rusty is so messed up - he has moments of clarity into the wreck of his life. We see he never had a chance and was doomed from the start.
6. Brock has a job fitting his unique skills and talents - which were largely wasted guarding Rusty and the boys.
7. The Venture bros universe still obeys some basic economics - note that Dr. Impossible has fallen on hard times due to his mental breakdown and loss of his lucrative contracts.
8. Whatever happened to Scott Hall, henchman #1
There are a few more loose ends: Former Mrs. Impossible - how's relationship with Jonas Jr.? What is going on with Triana (at necromancer school?) . Where's Molotov and her band of female assassins now that all of their competition was iced by Brock? Oct. 26, 2010, 4:44pm

Speaking of loose ends...
I think the 3 most important questions that still need to be answered before the series ends are:
1.) Why DOES The Monarch hate Dr. Venture?
2.) Who is the boys Mother?
3.) What/Who caused the death of Jonas Venture Sr.?
Of course, other points of interest to me are random things like:
The relationship between Brock and Molotov (love or hate, they should definitely at least "get together" at some point)
The boys blossoming relationships with girls. Let's face it, they're what? 17 now? It's about time... (Hank's "success", if you can consider it that, aside, Dean's drive seems to be all about his work, yet, he was so devoted to his girl pal Triana in the past...)
And (now, more than ever) the idea that Dr. Girlfriend might actually LIKE 21.
Also, I'd like to see more of the old Team Venture, because they kick much @$$, in my opinion (especially Col. Gentleman), not to mention Sally Impossible (what ever happened to Rocket, by the way?), and I think another meeting between Tara and her girls, and Rusty and his boys would be pretty cool.
I read somewhere that in P.R.O.M, Rusty would reveal to Hank and Dean the fact that they were clones. That's all well and good, but, again, I think it's about time we start getting answers reguarding the 3 main questions I mentioned above.
I'm thinking VB will last another 2 Seasons for sure. They'll probably answer those 3 big questions sometime during the Finales of Season 5 and 6.
P.S. Anybody else buy Season 4.1 today? :D (What was up with the DVD cover? Who's chest is that? I laughed for 5 minutes after I removed the cover. Hilariously random!)
P.P.S. Someone mentioned Lost Season 6. Am I the only person who liked the Finale? LOL. ;P Oct. 27, 2010, 1:07am

I dont think all these questions will be answered.
For some reason I think as soon as Monstroso comes out of the oxygen tent (with his broad shoulders, made of silicone humps), the finale will end up along the lines of this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW6BSuLPyeg
A truly weird back up flanged vocal on Gail Ann Dorsey's voice. Neat! @@^%
Why not the Guild coming in to the whole end game? Monstroso is the money maker for the guild, I'll bet you a copy of the prog rock masterpiece "Yessocks". Oct. 27, 2010, 3:42pm

Here's my 21/Dr. Girlfriend prediction...The Monarch gets wind of what is going on and confronts 21. But when he calls on his henchmen to attack they all stand with Gary instead. Sheila hires Monstroso and takes the cocoon and most of what Malcolm has in a divorce settlement. Finally, Gary convinces Sheila to become the supervillianess she was always capable of being and pledges himself as her #2 and the other henchmen follow.
