Boring Site News Stuff

Some behind the scenes work was going on here during yesterday and a little of today. I joined the current century by coding an updating engine in php, so updating the site is a heck of a lot easier. I just wander off to a secret location on the interweb and write to my heart's content and then click the 'update' button. Sure beats all that old fashioned FTP nonsense. I'll be tweaking and adding things in the days to come, so if you happen to see something that's broken, it's probably me messing around.

Onto more important matters, if you didn't already notice I revamped the Show Info area by splitting it into a couple of sections and stuff, so check that out if you'd like. Sorry I don't have much else to report, but this updating engine sure is spifftacular.

Season Two Status

For those who avoid watching the AS bumps, you may not have known tonight (9pm EST) was an online Q&A session on adult swim.com. The actual answer thread is here, but I'll save you the time of finding the relevant news:

Kramerica wrote:
What is your highest hope for '05? Which way are you leaning towards greenlighting VB season 2? What are some determining factors?

AS answers:
We are set on world domination. It will definitely happen, possibly tomorrow. We're truly excited about everything we're working on right now. But I -- we -- think that the Boondocks is going to be one of the most interesting, brilliant and inflammatory things ever on TV and we're really into it.

As far as the Venture Bros. we [are] absolutely considering a second season. But it's up to you guys. You have to watch it. We're going to air it for the next three sundays at 11pm. So there, it's in your court.

So there you have it. Watch the frickin' show already. And tell all your friends and family to watch it too! You know what must be done.

Canada, eh?

Good news for you Canadians!

Meanwhile, Detour will add two adult shows to its lineup. Bromwell High, a comedy set in an underfunded, overcrowded South London school, will have its world premiere on Monday, March 7, at 10:30pm. The Venture Brothers will make its Canadian premiere on Sunday, March 13, at 10:30pm.

Thanks go out to Toon Zone for that news. Can you feel the love?

Venture Bros. Petition

Sadly, I have not gone to bed yet. Anyway, you ought to click on the image below this paragraph, because it links to a thread on AS.com where you can sign a petition to renew Venture Bros! I mean, I'm sure you don't really have much (if any) say, but it's nice that they provide some semblance of viewer input mattering (and insane internet-viewer input for that matter), right?

It also would seem that LJ is back up, so my heroics from yesterday were short-lived. Ah well, such is life I suppose. Good night, kids!

More On Fox

New insanely weird article over at IGN. Nothing new is really covered except news that Venture Bros. promotions will air during Family Guy on Fox for the next couple weeks. Also no doubt many of you have noticed that LiveJournal recently suffered a pretty big server issue (they lost power on all of their servers apparently), so you can't read Jackson's last update! The horror! Fear not though, for I have come through in the clutch:

Late breaking news I didn't mention last time because I didn't have the details yet...

Adult Swim has decided to give our little Venture Bros. television programme an experimental whirl at 11pm Sundays starting this Sunday. As far as I know it's only for four weeks--long enough to show "Ice Station--Impossible!," "Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean," "The Trial of the Monarch," and "Return to Spider-Skull Island."

What's especially exciting about this is that, through whatever deal AS has going with them vis-a-vis Family Guy, FOX will be airing commercials for The Venture Bros.--thereby exposing them a Big-Ass prime time network audience--during Family Guy for the next three Sundays.

Pretty cool for us.

Exclaimation Point!

Venture Bros.? On Sunday? At eleven?! Can it be true? Only time will tell, but be sure to watch your TV (or TVs) next Sunday and find out! Also, VB ads on Fox! I can't stop exclaiming things!

Screen Savers and Ratings and News, Oh My!

Kevin Karstens was nice enough to inform me that he's made a new Venture Bros. screen saver you can check it out. The saver is pretty neat and features character shots, sketchwork (from Doug Lovelace's site. Grab it from his site or point your mouse clicker thingy right over here (1.53MB). Then simply open the zip file and run the screen saver inside and it will install itself.

In other news, I don't think AS put up any ratings for the prior two weeks, but the VB shown on New Years Day night pulled in 398k viewers for second place behind Futurama.

And finally, Jackson Publick updated his LiveJournal once more with news of the holiday season and some interesting pictures and a bit of somewhat vague news that sounds promising but we shall have to see. That's all for now.

Outtakes!

I'm just noticing it now, and I assume I'm late to the game, but those Xmas outtakes are up. You know, the ones I mentioned on December 23rd? Go check them out. Apparently the fight scene between Brock and Krumpus was to be longer, but well, you know how these things go. Lots of very awesome sketches to see and be sad that the show wasn't a full half-hour. Maybe next year?

Speaking of next year, howsabout those new Venture Bros. bumps, eh? Mighty fine stuff, and perhaps a good sign.

Fan-made DVD Box

Keep in mind that the following isn't official at all, but check out this neat season one DVD set. It's made by a fan of the show who also happens to be an aspiring DVD case designer, but it's still quite cool. Muchas gracias to nfreakct on SA for finding that.

Want to Run Adult Swim?

For lack of actual VB news, you can enter a contest to run adult swim for a night. Well, you get to pick three hours of programming for one night of AS as well as a party at a local restaurant with your pals and $1000. Good deal, and all it costs is your very soul. More or less. If you win make sure to play at least one VB episode. My personal favorites are Trial of the Monarch and Return to Spider-Skull Island, if you're looking for recommendations.

Also, because I'm a super-nice guy, and somebody requested them, here are some screencaps of the X-1. Enjoy!

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
