Jackson Says: Buy A DVD

... or a Blu-Ray. Jackson updated with some tidbits about the upcoming season and how it's coming in two parts. He also included a nifty new background painting for immediate consumption (do not take painting orally). Also he notes that you really should buy the season three DVD and/or Blu-Ray because that would make him happy, and when he's happy, you're happy. Capisce?

Season Three DVD/Blu-Ray/Soundtrack Discussion!

Discussion threads make a comeback in '09 for one night only! Well, until season four starts at least. At any rate, if you've got something to say about the just-released season three DVD and/or Blu-Ray or the soundtrack CD/vinyl then here's the place to say it! My copies are still in the mail, though I expect my DVD to show up today. As is the norm I will also eventually be running a season three giveaway with the usual bevy of ridiculous questions. So stay tuned for that!

Also since I forgot to mention it, there's a new poll up for your voting pleasure. It's in the sidebar or you can just go directly to it if that's your thing.

Update (5:55pm EST): Hey, guess what just showed up!

Full Toyfare Interview Online

Hey, remember when I mentioned that ToyFare had an interview with Jackson and Doc? Well ToyFare just informed me that they put up the entire interview online for your reading pleasure. It also includes a bunch of early artwork from when the Venture boys were but a gleam in Mr. Publick's eye. I'm told this art is different from what's in the print magazine, so if you want to see even more original, old-school art and sketches you should still grab that issue of ToyFare.

Animation World Interview With Jackson and Doc

Cool interview with JP & Doc over at Animation World Magazine. As always you're provided with some insight into the series (season three's outcome and what might happen in season four) as well as some interesting tidbits about season four's format:

One big change for season four is that it's being split up into two sets of eight instead of one set of 13. "The first eight should be on the air this fall," Publick offered. "We're just finishing making those. We're going to write for a while and start our production again in the summer to hopefully get the back eight maybe by the following summer. So you get three more episodes and you get stuck waiting six months in between them, which is better than the year we usually had to wait."

So that's something I didn't know anyway. Enjoy!

ToyFare to Feature Venture Content

From ToyFare's Blog it appears that issue #141 will contain some Venture Bros. stuff:

Do you like the Venture Bros.? Of course you do! It’s the friggin’ best. We go in-depth with VB creator Jackson Publick on everything from the show’s origin to its future to what Venture toys should be like. Also, reprinted for the first time ever: Jackson’s first ever sketch of the Venture Bros., plus a bunch more awesome design sketches!

Also since it's ToyFare maybe you can hold out some kind of hope for actin figures or figurines, though I wouldn't get them too high. The issue goes on sale tomorrow, March 11th.

Soundtrack For Sale!

Reader and commenter The Mysterious 'H' was awesome enough to point out that you can now buy the soundtrack from Adult Swim/Williams Street. $12 for the CD version or $18 for vinyl (which has 16 tracks instead of the CD's 20). You can also buy a variety of other Venture Bros. stuff such as the upcoming season 3 DVD/Blu-Ray and some shirts and stuff.

Soundtrack Tracks... Track

Bundled with the upcoming Season 3 Blu-Ray release (and presumably sold separately) will be a much-lauded soundtrack, as you may know. A track list has finally surfaced (or maybe it surfaced a while ago, but it's the first I'm hearing of it) so you can lament that you don't yet own the damned thing and also maybe guess which tracks are which:
  1. Brock Graveside
  2. Tuff
  3. Tensssacts
  4. 13 BigMon / Boys as Transformers
  5. Node Wrestling
  6. Thunder-Bro
  7. Damion
  8. Assclamp!
  9. Mississippi Noir
  10. VB1 Spag
  11. Bolly
  12. Gawker
  13. Descension
  14. Warped Carousel
  15. Sexy Sultry
  16. In a spaceage Mood
  17. X1 Krashi / woozzy
  18. Warped Span
  19. Fumblestealth
  20. VB Theme
The DVD and Blu-Ray come out on March 24th in the US, in case you needed a reminder.

Comic Con Coverage

IGN has a quick article covering the Venture Bros panel. As expected most of the news is about the upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray release since there isn't a huge amount of info on season four just yet. They are hopeful that episodes will begin sometime later this year, however, so things seem to be on track.

You Love Downtime

Times are slow right now as they often are between seasons. However if you happen to visit here on any sort of basis note that there will probably be some site downtime in the near future. I don't know when exactly, but Mike L., who hosts all this junk, is switching to a faster, more reliable server, so it should be good!

Also while I am sharing site news, click through if you'd like to see a tiny preview/teaser of the upcoming Mantis-Eye redesign I've been working on for a while now. You know you want to!

NY Comic Con Venture Bros. Panel

Comic Con released the schedule a few days ago so if you'll be in the neighborhood of New York City on February 6th - 8th you should check it out.

The Venture Bros.

Jackson Publick (creator and voice of Hank Venture, The Monarch, Henchman 24, Pete White, and Sgt. Hatred) and Doc Hammer (creator and voice of Dr. Girlfriend, Henchman 24 [ed: Doc is 21], and Billy Quizboy) speak about [adult swim]'s The Venture Bros. Now in production on its fourth season, the show will pick up after the explosive showdown at the Venture Compound in the season three cliffhanger. A signing with Jackson and Doc will immediately follow.

Saturday, Feb. 7 at 6:45pm - 7:45pm, Room 1A08

Sadly I can't make it this year so I won't have any awesome live updates, but if anyone is planning on some kind of live feed from the panel let me know or post about it in the comments and I'll see if I can feature it here.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
