Reminder: Venture Bros. Season 5 DVD and Blu-Ray on March 4th

I know it's been a while, but time apart is good for us, I swear! We'll be back together before you know it! At any rate, just a quick reminder that the Venture Bros. season five Blu-Ray and DVD are out in a few short days: on March 4th! If you're into it, there's still plenty of time to pre-order them from Amazon and get them just in time. The Blu-Ray version is $24.96 and the DVD is $18.96. You could also go out and buy them from the store if you prefer, but you're on your own in that case.
I can't wait to watch the season all over again again! This time with great commentary!

The special feature 'Fax My Grandson' w/ Larry Murphy is comedy gold.
The Blu-ray video transfer of season five is the best yet.
So far the commentaries are the usual mix of personal stories, riffs, season six minor details, on topic to the episode 25% of the time... and I personally LOVE IT.
Jackson and Doc have deep camaraderie, and a lot to say, often with sharp sardonic jabs attacking their own commentary, it's true self deprecating gold in proper Venture fashion. It's really wonderful listening to them talk is what I'm trying to get across.
A lot of behind the scenes info. this time as well, like how they wanted to make the season V finale an hour and CN said no, the budget is tighter now, not less mind you, but they are more strict with funds now.
Jackson and Doc... the kinds of people you wished you had as friends.. but settle for less.

I don't know what the likelihood of Jackson or Doc seeing this is, but Doc mentioned in one of the commentaries that he'd be genuinely interested to know exactly how many episodes Orpheus is in. Well here it is broken down by season:

season 1 - 7 episodes
season 2 - 9 episodes
season 3 - 4 episodes
season 4 - 5 episodes
season 5 - 2 episodes

Plus the christmas special that equals: 28 episodes. I know it's bizarre that I would know this, but it really didn't take that much research. Basically IMDB'ing Steven Rattazzi

They are only 35 to 40 episodes away from making 100! I would love to see this show get picked up after season 7 (wishful thinking!) in syndication! More Venture Bros, more, more, more, please!

Jackson and Doc will probably shoot for around 100 episodes and call it quits.

Which is good.. being my favorite show.. I'd hate to see it get run into the ground like SO many other shows.

Latest word from Jackson that I've ready is that they want to keep doing Venture Bros. for as long as they can, dropping in every few years. They're apparently close or have already reached their goal for what the show is, which I'm guessing is this massive universe of characters, and not needing to follow anyone in particular.

So I get home from work yesterday and see this email from Amazon. Anyone else have this problem?

"We're writing to let you know that the payment for your order has been declined. Valid payment information must be received within 3 days, otherwise your order will be canceled."

It's an Amazon Visa. There is nothing wrong with it. It's not expired and I have less than $50 dollars on it. They just billed it last Tuesday for an episode of Archer (not really loving season 5 btw). My card was just billed again today for this week's episode. What the hell?

So anyway I just changed it to another card to make sure it went through, but now instead of my order shipping out yesterday, it didn't ship until today because of some glitch on their end. Not fair. :( Oh well. Not a big deal. As a VB fan I'm used to waiting.

I only use Amazon gift cards for this very reason, and they don't expire either like some.
Got mine copy today form Amazon no problems.

I suggest you just go get amazon gift car or go to best buy and get the Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray has full nice slip packaging and art, slip case with the full book motif insert and digital copy, it really goes all out like season three Blu-ray/DVD.

Just got it yesterday. Really enjoying it, of course. One of the things that always impresses me is how much thought they put into the packaging. I realize Doc and Jackson probably have nothing to do with it but it's still pretty cool and it's nice to know that the network still cares about the show and its fans and wants to create a quality experience all around.

Good point- Venture Brothers is one of those shows you can count on for a physical version in an increasingly online world. I mean, obviously the internet's not a bad thing, but there's something nice about physical media.

A physical version in an increasingly online world is a must for me.
I can't live with out HD uncensored Venture Bros. Blu-rays, the commentaries alone are too great!
If the sales of each season aren't good enough, the physical releases will eventually stop.
ATHF is a good examples of this, and so is Bob's Burgers.
KOTH is the other good example of an animated show that stopped having DVD releases... after putting half the show on DVD.

Plus: Jackson and Doc each get two cents per DVD/BD sold.
We need to help Hammer get out of his shoebox.

Hey "H". I agree that the packaging is great, and actually it seems like it's a very hands-on process with Jackson especially--he personally did the design elements on top of the illustration, and according to Patrick Leger (http://patrickleger.tumblr.com/), who drew illustrations and the design of the cover painting, he and Jackson worked out some of the concepts for the illustrations. Wow!

This one was really difficult for me to find in town, but the hunt was worth it! Commentary is amazing as always. I think my favorite so far is the joke they want to put in about Brock liking Pocky.

I got it today in the mail! Such a delight, I love the hell out of these commentaries.

Although it's bizarre how they're still apparently under the belief that their commentary sucks. After five seasons, you'd think they would have caught on how beloved those are. Are they just being humble and ignoring it in favor of the usual self-deprecating?

(also on the first episode: more confusion over the existence of an hour-long special in the works. I suppose they had decided to nix it after the recording.)

Seriously. The commentary is the main reason I enjoy the DVD's.

And yeah I'm confused too. They've said that there will be some kind of special later this year, but the 1 hour special was made part of season 6.

I'm really curious what season 6 is gonna be like. It's apparently a big epic continuous story.

Are you sure it's transferable? I mean in a legal sense? Sometimes those things are not. Might want to peruse the fine print first just in case. PS: I am not the FBI. No, sirree.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
