Museum Delay

This is just a quick update with nothing too important, but since I was away for the weekend I am way behind with the capsule and notes and such (meaning I haven't even started them yet). Hopefully I will start on it tonight, but in the meantime if you want to help feel free to post whatever crazy references you spotted in the comments here. Hopefully this won't be as long as the many weeks it took me to get the Cremation Creek II stuff up.

If it helps, I already copied down this line without brock's responses.
"This is going to be one of those things isn't it? I mean --- You get a bunch of short fused costumed idiots together in one room like this -- and what do you think's going to happen? Any minute now stuff's gonna start blowin' up, guys'll be throwing each other into other guys! Huh. You know when you're not the one in the middle of it for once. Actually, totally completely obvious." I love the sound of clarity in his voice, like he really did just have an epiphany. Great acting, directing, and writing right there!

Also another fun fact. A sidecar, the drink Dr. Venture orders at the opened bar:

2 oz Cognac
1oz Lemon juice
1oz Cointreau

It is one of the girliest drinks I have ever heard of. I guess one would NEED a double to get drunk enough to accuse your father's best friends of accidentally killing him tho.

Didn't Doc and Jackson mention in the Season 1 commentaries that Rusty is a girl-drink-drunk?

Though I have watched all the season one commentaries, I don't expressly recall them saying that. However. If I absorbed it through commentary or all the implications of his character, I don't know. But it doesn't make it any less hilarious.

Yeah throughout the series he has ordered a ton of girly drinks. the only other one I can recall offhand is a rob roy (in Mid-life Chrysalis) but I am sure there are at least one or two other instances where he's ordered something supremely girly, though a sidecar is pretty impressively girly. also worth noting is that you are supposed to serve it in a sugar-rimmed glass.

Roy Roys and Sidecars used to be manly drinks. That's part of the gag. He's so out of the loop he doesn't realize that nobody drinks those anymore.

I really don't think a Rob Roy is a girl drink at all. Yeah, it comes with a cherry in it, but if you drink three or four of those you're going to have serious trouble staying upright.

(As I learned the very, very hard way.)

I know it's somewhat obvious (and someone already kind of pointed it out in the episode discussion) but when Richard dives off the catwalk, presumably attempting to commit suicide, the situation and lines are a parody of The Omen, in which the nanny (or the maid or something) dedicates her fatal plunge off a tall building to Damien, the wee little antichrist.

Any ideas on why the date was bleeped out when whats-his-brain said "Stranded me here in Nineteen*bleep*tynine!"

Is it 1969, and everything is pretty much normal. Or is it 1959, and Rusty is a clone? Since by my calculations, if chronologically the show started in 2003 (making season 3 take place in 04 or 05), then Rusty would have been born in 1960.

Also, frankly, 75% of the time little Rusty Venture looks like Pixie eared peter pan to me. And that can't be COINCIDENTAL symbolism, can it?

i'm 99% sure they dropped this episode right at comicon time for a reason.

the whole gag about the charging for autographs/photos is an experience the guys had at comicon (last year?) and i think they were definitely spoofing on that.

Also, the large grouping of weird people dressed up in costumes. does that SCREAM comicon to me only? isn't that EXACTLY what comicon is? a bunch of awkward people running around in costumes causing scenes?

I didn't really make that comicon connection, but I have to admit it does make a lot of sense.
The autograph scene actually marks the second joke of this nature so far this season (the first being Brock's criticism of Doc in The Buddy System) and according to Doc and Jackson's commentary the whole idea is based on Dana Shneider's experience at Dragoncon a couple of years back.

Oh god, if someone can tell me the drink Dr. Venture orders with around 3:40 left in part 3 (on the AS.com version) I would totally be your best friend. It sounds like 'sam in a sweater' or 'santa miss wetter' or something weird like that, but I can't find any drinks that are similar sounding. :(

OK. So, here's my theory:

At New York Comic Con Doc and Jackson were talking about how they like to make up drinks in Dr. Venture's voice. My guess here, since if a drink anything close to "Sand in a Sweater" or "salmon ice water" existed, the internet would know. I figure this is a joke on how silly girl-drink names are, also on how silly they look: if you see the thing he's given.

I'm kinda thinking that Professor Impossible isn't being voiced by Stephen Colbert this time around? Sounded a little off to me.

You are correct. He was too busy (or too important) to do the voice this time around so Jackson did it. It's not too terrible of a Colbert-doing-Impossible impersonation but it still makes me sad :(

What is the name of this episode? Here you have "New Museum--Now You Don't"....but on the capsule menu (on the right hand side of all the pages) it says "Now Museum--Now You Don't" which is right?

You can't say it is unexpected, this is a fan site for a show with lines like: "Whoa, WOMANaconda!" and "A little birdie told me, but don't blame Tiny Eagle."

Sorta late to be bringing this up but you might mention a bit about Toby Huss and his voice and character work, particularly Artie on Pete and Pete, as that's probably where most people would recognize him from.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
