Spinoff Online Interviews James Urbaniak
There's an interview with James Urbaniak, voice of Dr. Venture (and Phantom Limb, and Jonas Jr.) in Venture Bros. over at Spinoff Online. It mostly goes into his work on Venture Bros.; how he and Jackson came up with the voice and his thoughts about the show's writing and continuity. There's also a good amount at the end about his role as Robert Crumb in American Splendor as well as some non-Venture things he's currently working on.

James is truly a king among men; a brave adonis (if you will)... burning his graven image into the back of our childrens brain stems for generations to come.
The man is a goddamn legend.
Actually Jackson, Doc, James, and Patrick are all f'n legends!!!
The best thing about this show is the fact that so many talented people actually care about what they make, I love the fact that the show progresses in organic and seemingly very real ways, characters grow up and/or older, characters die... sometimes they go crazy.. sometimes your favorite character (Brock or Phantom Limb for examples) sit out for long episdoic streaks only so they can return bigger and better than ever before.
Everyone is so talented and puts so much into this goddamn show it's epic.
I'd let Doc or Jackson bang my very hot sister over a barrel, that's how awesome all these dudes are.
Well except for titmouse studios... they suck c*@ks in hell, lol.
But anyway, enough diatribe against titmouse....
So in summation:
James Urbaniak = KING AMONG MEN! Apr. 9, 2012, 8:41pm

Ease up on the Titmouse hate. You're allowed to state your opinion on whatever but at this point you've restated it in two totally unrelated news articles within a few days. Also if you want to post a thing, say about pre-ordering figures, use the community section rather than posting it in every unrelated news item. Makes things easier!

Actually I have a question: Why wasn't the fact that the first epiosde of season 5 was shipped to Korea to be animated at the start of the month... not news?
I think people would want to know animation has just begun on season five... meaning that all of the scripts aren't even done yet...
No new season until April 2013, is now a lock. Apr. 18, 2012, 6:37pm

I am just guessing about 2013... it takes 9 months total to aniamte an ep... so if the first one's been shipped to Korea... my guess is Jackson and Doc are still finishing the final scripts as well.
Jackson works incredibly hard doing multiple things at once... people need to be more patient with the show.
It makes me sick when I see comments from 'fans' telling Jackson they'll lose fans if they don't hurray up... I just wanna tell those idiots to screw off.. making a cartoon is like making a baby.. from dating all the way through to child birth... each season is like that big long cycle.
Jackson is a God: he directs/produces animated life.
GO TEAM MANTIS EYE! Apr. 18, 2012, 9:31pm

Also I just wanted to tell you (Mike) thanks for this site.
And confuse people by being helpful and breaking off a piece of news for ya.
If it wasn't on Jacksons blog I wouldn't have even mentioned it.
-
Anyway I was wondering if anyone else would be willing to write CN with me, like... everyday.
We need to tell them that V Bros needs even more money, Jackson and Doc need more money, the show's budget should be two million an epiosde.
Why is the only thing left on T.V. not getting the attention and budget it deserves?
I heard that yet again, when Jackson signed the new contract it was just an inflation hike... i.e. they still ain't getting the money they deserve or need.
Why the hell shouldn't Venture Bros cost more than say for example 'the Celveland Show', everyone knows which one is better!
Demand they cancel all these dumb 'live action' shows at Adult Swim and give all of the production funds to V Bros. asap.
I'm dead serious. Apr. 18, 2012, 9:40pm

I feel strongly this way after feeling so bad for Jackson and Doc aftering hearing them discuss each season's issues on commentaries and knowing it could easily be fixed with a bigger budget.. more retakes, more time, more animators, better animation, no c teams, no more bs boo boos in every other shot.
V bros. is the best, it deserves the best. Apr. 18, 2012, 9:47pm

- by Jacksons comments on season five:
- (unregistered id: 114EC4DFD3)
"This season--which we've just begun production of--is a little different in that we've mainly had the year off (with the exception of the Shallow Gravy special), so we're well-rested and have created a ton of new material to draw scripts from already, though I must admit we've been a little slower than I'd like in turning that material into actual finished scripts. We've also got a slightly larger production staff in some key areas that have traditionally been most difficult for us--storyboards and editing--so things should go more smoothly this time around."
"Nothing to show until the summer. We're just about to ship the first episode to Korea to be animated."
" ..we haven't actually written the premiere episode yet. And since Doc wrote the "first" episode in the production order, I can't tell you the title.
Because he totally hates when the titles get leaked." Apr. 19, 2012, 1:13am
