Cigar?
After much delay due to holidays and laziness the capsule/notes/etc for Pinstripes & Poltergeists are up. That's the last one until 'spring 2010' when season 4.2 starts, so now's a good time to get all those corrections and additions in. Feel free to post them in the comments or you can email me if you're shy. I'll be gentle.

Blerg, broke it, sorry. "Cradle modem" is another name for the old-fashioned kind also called an acoustic coupler, where the phone handset rests on a cradle with a microphone and speaker matching up with its speaker and microphone - which is exactly the kind of thing Doc would use with a C64.

Nice job. Two things- Monstroso's name is a reference to a character from Pinocchio, a whale that swallows pretty much everybody three quarters of the way through, so 21 wanting to wail on Monstroso is a pun of sorts. Just in case anybody hasn't seen Pinocchio.
Also, and I'm not so sure of this one, but Monstroso's repeated cigar offers may be a veiled MST3K reference. I wouldn't put it past them, as The Invisible Hand of Fate is possibly a reference to Manos, The Hands of Fate, a movie made famous by Mystery Science Theater 3000. The cigar thing would be a reference to Fugitive Alien, specifically the character Captain Joe, who frequently offers cigars as well, if it is indeed an MST3K reference. I could be reading into it too far though. Dec. 26, 2009, 9:41pm

Doc wasn't using Hatred's computer, he was on the boy's. Hatred's computer in his room dinged while he was ironing because doc was on the same screen name. The IM program AIM used to allow you signed into two different locations on the same screen name, therefore it dinged on Hatred's computer.

The Nigerian email isn't really phishing, it's just a regular old scam. Get someone to give you money in exchange for something you won't deliver.
Phishing is (usually) putting up a fake (but trustworthy-looking) login page so people will enter their account numbers, passwords, SSNs, etc, then using that info for nefarious purposes. Jan. 5, 2010, 5:00pm
