Many posts i've read refer to the "Ignore Me" character to resemble one of the Knights of Ni (Monty Python) - What's more of a resemblence is that of AKU from Samurai Jack and the "Ignore Me" character. Check it out!

Amazing episode... I'm going to call it right now that no matter how long VB goes on season 2 will be the best (prove me wrong :))...

Tons of references (both to previous VB eps as well as other shows), and some hysterical moments. A few of my favorites were:
Hank saying he didn't really like neckercheifs...
The alien constantly shouting ignore me...
All of the "Go Team Venture" stuff...
'Jonas' walking out of the gate and shooting the alien in the head...

Great episode! I like the callbacks to last season, and it's always good to have Jonas Jr. in the mix. And I loved the burned out Jonny Quest. He probably lost his mind after Race Bannon died.

For a Quizboy/Monarch/Orpheus-less episode, it was really funny. The weird writings of Colonel Gentleman, wishing he had Micronauts when he was a kid, was really good. Too bad the character died. It would have been nice to get the original Team Venture together for another episode.

Dr. Venture treating Sally Impossible like that is another reason why he's my least favorite character. Billy Quizboy is still my fave.

That was awesome. I love that they found Jonny in an actual setting from JQ. Glad Sally may have found someone to be nice to her... How hilarious was Prof. Imposissible's complete absence of human emotion, not to mention his description of Rusty's performance in college? The observation/judgement robot kind of reminded me of a cross between Marvel comics' "the Watcher"

I beleive the observer/judgment robot is from the "Red Dwarf" series. They had an episode with a robot who went through time and judged everyone, if they were found wanting he would replace them with another alternative reality of what might have been if a different sperm had reached the egg first. Crazy concept but then Red Dwarf was a crazy show.

I just double-checked my Red Dwarf DVDs. The show was season 5, episode 2, “The Inquisitor”. A tenuous connection at best? Each character had to justify their existence or be “deleted”. A robot who was bored with life, survived until the end of time itself, decides to go back in time to correct things. Sounds close.

Good ep over all. Criticism:

Are we so far into the series that we're making a big deal of out of callbacks and references to obscure characters? It's kind of a fun, Arrested Development-y place to go for the fans, but it can make a show really hard to get into for new people.

Dr. Venture is becoming a little bit too much of a dick. He's not going to be any fun if all he does is whine and bitch about things, with occasional interludes for his dead dad. And as fun as he is as a failed scientist, he used to show the occasional success, as messed up as they were. Basically he needs to be a little more interesting to me. Even Brock seemed to be getting tired of him.

I definitely love the callbacks. It would be a shame to get rid of them, and I think the show can stand well enough on its own. Anyone who's likely to stumble across it should be able to enjoy it regardless of not catching everything.

That said, it's by far my favorite episode of the new season thus far. By FAR. The Grand Galactic Inquisitor was genius. I think it's high time we got:

A. Grand Galactic Inquisitor "IGNORE ME!!!!" t-shirts, and

B. A line of action figures.

I do seriously lament the demise of Colonel Gentleman. That's the one thing that has me scratching my head: why the f- would you kill off such a great character (particularly when his demise really didn't need to happen in order to advance the plot...all it did was set up a chance to read through his diary...which could've been done when he was away on a trip or something). All I'm saying is, what a shame to kill off such a great character. Maybe he will be revived somehow.

I don't care what anyone says, this is THE BEST FUCKING TV SHOW OUT THERE!! 20 episodes straight of motherfuckin' perfection and it shows no signs of stoppin'. This has to be one of the better episodes of this season. I liked more than "Powerless" and "Mummies" but not as much as "Hate Floats" and "Assassinanny 911". That big ass machine that kept saying "IGNORE ME" had me rollin' off the couch. This is the only episode so far that had an Adventure feel to it rather than some crazy shit happing around the compound. What happened to Johnny Quest??? Cocaine really is a hell of a drug if it can do that to him. He reminds me of my retarded-ass cousin. Dr.Venture is a fucked up person. Even Brock caught on to that. Poor Sally, I almost feel sorry for her to have to deal with that many assholes in that episode. Jonas Venture Jr. is way more interesting than his brother. That nigga has game! Every time you see him he's with some fine-ass girl. They need to replace Dr.Venture with his brother because he's gettin' old. He isn't funny, he shows no regard towards anything in his life except for Brock and his father, and most importantly.....He's a fucking asshole!! Can't wait for Victor. Echo. November. Keep em comin'.

I found it really odd that the boys were left to find the piece by themselves, without the protection of Brock. Maybe Rusty and Brock are past the idea of protecting them when they can just clone them.

Did anyone notice the similarities to the "Ignore Me" alien dude and AKU from Samurai Jack.

I forsee a battle between Rusty and his parasite of a brother. I mean, he pretty much threw salt on Rusty's game with Mrs. Impossible.

Really hard not to love this episode! I feel as tho every episode contains so many catch phrases that if i were to have a T-Shirt for every one, well, my closet would be full in just one season.

Well they were going to see Col. Gentleman so I guess that was considered fairly safe.

The Grand Galactic Inquisitor also reminded me of The Knights of Ni (somewhat) with the forceful repetition of "IGNORE ME!" that and the big head dress thing.

And its a given that Dr "V" doesn't give a flying rats ass about anyone (with the possible exception of Brock) or anything but himself, hes a self centered, egotistical, megalomaniac who will use and abuse hes "friends" and family in any way he sees fit as long as it works out to his advantage (but thats why I like him, where would we be if he were a mamby-pamby goody-two shoes, no drama there) he has no interest in Sally - "We better get moving Brock, You know how clingy old Skull Face over there can get and I likes my Independence" - but your right, it will probably piss him off that Jonas Jr does - I hope her and JJ have a future.

I'll take one of those T-Shirts too.

Interesting how so many of you see Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. as such a great character, going as far as replacing Doc with him. Personally I find JJ to be terribly annoying and by far the worst character on the show, he just doesnt not fit in, he is a success, good with women, straight up hero, a real adventurer, and an only character with seemingly no flaw, sure sounds great but NOT for a parody show. He just doesnt fit in, maybe as a slight cameo once or twice a season to rile up Doc.

And as for ppl complaining that they dislike Dr. Venture because he is a bad human being, come on, its a parody, thats what makes him one of the best characters. Completely selfish, an asshole and a sarcastic jerk he is absolutely hillarious.

You guys have to realize what you are actually watching, Jonny quest or a and adult themed Venture Bros

yeah.... "DUDE"... right, personality, not physical. According to your logic a guy in wheelchair would be considered flawed right? Sounds like something the publicly hated Dr. V would say.

And anyway his "flaws" are actually beneficial abilities. He is small, can fit into small spaces well, and the mechanical arm is clearly better then a real one

beat me to it.
not to mention JJ goes to the heart of the problem with rusty: he's an usurper, functionally a cuckoo. Even with is late start, JJ is already outshining Rusty in all areas.

But there's the problem, right? Where do you go with the character beyond his backstory? Will he get an archenemy or eventually revert back to being an enemy of Rusty?

I think that's what will eventually happen, JJ will overshadow Rusty like his Jonas Senior did, and Rusty will look more like a failure in comparison. His arch-enemies will end up going after JJ instead (maybe not the Monarch), Rusty's business will dry up because everyone wants to work with the successful Venture and not him, and in the end Rusty will have nothing left.

Actually, it might be kind of cool if Rusty Venture becomes an arch-villain to his brother JJ. That'd make a good 'What If' kind of story.

Actually, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if now, since Rusty's dreams are changing and JJ seems to be coming into his own nicely, we'll start to see a more positive change in Rusty. Billy and Pete did remind Rusty that he was once someone kids looked up to. That he was more an andventurer then a scientist. Now that he has JJ in his life, someone who can live up to Venture Sr.'s name, maybe Rusty can come into his own and realize he has potential in other avenues. I also believe that deep down he does care about the boys, but is afraid to get close to them because he doesn't want to go through the pain of losing them like with his own father. His reactioon to seeing his father(although an alien in the end) was clear. The only one he seems to really be close to is Brock and I'm still mullinthe why's to that one out. there are several possibilities there. Just my 2 cents anyway.

Actually, I think Johnny's been shooting dope into his scrotum. He is hip, after all.

He was definitely sporting numerous needle marks on his arm. Looks like Johnny likes him the smack.

well being 2 feet tall and having a prostetic arm is not an applicable flaw in this case. I am talking about flawed or offkey(in case of protagonist) personality traits which make a parody character.

he seems too much of a traditional hero cartoon character to warrant his stealing the airtime from the hillariously awful human being rusty. At least for a show like venture bros.

And for that guy who said Jonas Venture Jr. threw salt on Rusty's game.....that asshole has no game!!! Certainly you figured that out from watching "Mid-life Chrysalis" His wardrobes look like a bad flashback from the 60's....

I'm sure they only killed Col. Gentleman like that to set up a later episode (at least I hope they did).

I've been thinking. Colonel Gentleman's a rich guy, right?

Well, what if he has a necromancer standing by ready to ressurect him?

One of his servants just has to make the call.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
