Escape to the House of Mummies Discussion
Hey kids, it's that time again! Escape to the House of Mummies should now be up on Adult Swim Fix so feel free to talk about it in the comments right here. For instance, why are they escaping to the House of Mummies and not from it? Seems very confusing to me, but I guess we'll get our answers. I'll be off on vacation this week as well, so the capsule and notes won't be posted until after the 24th or so.
And don't forget: THE COMMENTS WILL PROBABLY CONTAIN SPOILERS, so if you don't want to be spoiled then don't go reading them. You guys are smart though, you'll figure it out.

Well... The teaser was a recap of "Part 1" and the wrap up after the credits was previews of "Part 3" So I guess the simple answer is "Because(?)" Or it could be that they had to many gags and only 22 min.s to cram it all into so rather then do a cliff hanger (or two)... you get the picture

yeah, that's a good point. that's probably the most likely explination. When Orpheus first moves in, Venture is really suprised with how much he changed the place. Or, it's a tv show and they can change cointinuity as they see fit for a joke (although they seem not to do that).

Oh wow, that episode was insane. I like how it's a story in progress that never really goes anywhere and just ends up being a pissing contest of Rusty and Dr. O. At least Venture doesn't feel like a total chode after seeing his glory days on a tin lunchbox. Edgar Allan Poe got it bad thoughtout the entire episode. Pumpkin Head. Heh.

Now I can't load up anything. I've been trying to start watching the new ep, but no data is streaming. I tried loading up an episode of Harvey Birdman too, and it didn't come up. Hopefully they'll get things working on their site soon. I haven't been watching the new episodes on TV, i've been downloading the Adult Swim Fix files.

I dunno what's going wrong for the rest of you, but nothing went wrong for me. Well anywho, this episide comes about as random as any other Venture Bros. episode. Still funny though. Dr. Orpheus tols Dean to picture Triana naked & stuff. I'm pretty sure Dean got a half-chub from that. What's with the dog thing? He sounds like some random guy, not a "master...dog..man..thiiiiing." & the dos-thingy likes to lick it's junk. WTF? I guess this episode shows how much of a dick Dr. Venture can be. Triana's afraid of 'er closet & Dr. Orpheus just "magics" her asleep. WTF?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. BILLY'S A VIRGIN!!! But I guess that's not so surprizing, being a tiny, big-headed dude who spits with every word he says.
"Now get the hell out of this closet & go win that incredibly gay contest! Go! Go! Jul. 15, 2006, 7:01am

Brilliant episode, I honestly think this was the best one so far this season. My favorite part had to be triana and the closet, who knew her teen angst came from a lack of storage space. Once again the references amaze me, what other syndicated show would insert a reference to William S Burrough's infamous game of "william tell"

Can't be, though I initially thought that myself. Brock and Rusty are about the same age- they were both in college together. Perhaps "Operation Rusty's Blanket" predates Brock's assignment to the Venture family, and there was an OSI operative sassigned BEFORE Brock... that's got potential for a storyline.

At this point a story to unravel the past is not needed for the whole team venture thing even though there's like 3 different versions the 5 man team, the jhonny quest reference and the mystery man that looks like a cross of brock with ace bannon. Actually it would great to see what they come up with in the future

I've been meaning to ask this for a while. Is this show still made by Noodlesoup anymore. "In Powerless in the face of Death", where the Noodlesoup part should be, There's a Joseph Stalin-lookin' motherfucker on a string. In "Hate Floats" there's a Dolly Madison-lookin bitch on a string. In "Assassinanny 911" there's Napoleon on a string. And on "Escape to the House of Mummies Part 2" there's JFK on a string mumbling some shit about "chowder". In all of these scenes it say "WORLD LEADERS ENTERTAINMENT" Even in the opening title it says World Leaders Entertainment" Does anyone know if Noodlesoup still makes this show?????

Finally got it to work on the Fix today...
I didn't think it was quite as good as the other eps so far this seasaon, but still great... I love Doc's speach to Dean about climbing through holes... Also, nice cameo by H Jon Benjamin (McGurk (sp?))... Brock's "Me, Poe, and Me" as one team was great... Jul. 15, 2006, 10:47pm

Serpentor, was anyone else reminded of the Serpentor Cobra Emperor plot on the old GI Joe show? The combination of famous people (no time machine... lots of tombs though) and an all powerful leader created by a villainous organization?
Oh, and of course Serpentor was flawed because since Cobra couldn't get a hold of Sun Tzu's DNA they decided to use /Sergant Slaughter's/ instead... yeah, that's it replace a subtle Chinese genius with a loud WWF superstar, that's the ticket. That's why they kept losing...
No idea what went wrong with the Perfect Man... unless that was the way he was supposed to turn out. Jul. 16, 2006, 1:46am

Hate Floats definately had the best intro, but I liked Assassinanny the best thus far...Having Moltov babysit the Ventures was a great idea for an episode...The other episodes are great too, and I can't really say which I like second to Assassinanny...that episode really stands out for me though...

Chalk another one up to the boards folks. Another Sunday gone, another bomb-ass Venture Bros. episode aired. Was almost as good as "Hate Floats" and "Assassinanny 911" but not quite. It was still hillarious and had some very funny moments. Like when they kept shirnking and expanding Billy. Or when that Orisis guy said "I'm about to kill your sons" and Dr. Venture said "Join the Club". What the hell is "Voil". Never heard of it. If I was a parent I would not be so easy-going about having one of my neighbors picturing my daughter naked and french-kissing him. Kinda weird. The only gay thing now is that I have to wait 3 weeks until a new episode. Which is August 6. Which is 11 days before I have to go back to that piece of shit establisment that they have to nerve to call a "High School". Dammit!!!!Bring on "20 years to Midnight" or whatever episode is next.........

Did you miss the part where he smacked Dean against the wall for it? He did it so he could locate them. And the funny thing was that it was basically a damned if you do, damned if you don't moment for Dean.
And "voil" is a mispronunciation of Voile, emphasizing just how dumb the henchmen are. Jul. 19, 2006, 9:43pm

By the way, has anyone figured out the name of the last episode???They're probably keepin' it a secret because it is going to be the greatest thing ever seen on television. From the sound of the first part of the two-part episode, "Showdown at Cremation Creek", there's some serious shit goin' down there. And it's only 3 months away. Yay!!

What a great episode!! I loved the wannabe Egyptian cultists! "Ahhh great, now it's all full of spit! It smells like a wet cat in here."
And the complete randomness of EVERYTHING in the story perfectly captured the confusion of coming in on part 2 of a 3-parter. "Stop riding the perfect man!"
But who would have thought Dr. Orpheus's Dark Master would be such a JACKASS? Honestly, I didn't need to hear him go on and on about genitals!
Caligula's at it again...and Helper never can catch a break, can he?
All in all, it was a great episode, but not quite as awesome as last week's. I'd say it's about as good as the premiere. Jul. 17, 2006, 7:16pm

I noticed there is no new VB episode slated for next week.
There isn't a banner with next week's episode at the bottom of Fix's page.
And in the TV promo that shows stills of the next week's premieres, there was no VB still.
Anyone know why this is?
I don't think I can handle a friday afternoon with a new VB! I'm a junkie! Jul. 17, 2006, 11:43pm

This was a excellent episode don't get me wrong, but I counted 13 things that felt unexplained. I won't go into them here because it will make this comment way too long. And it felt like they were trying to mesh two different plots into one. The contest between Dr. V and Dr. O was well thought out and deeply satisfying. But the whole Time Machine/ Egyptian Cult thing felt rushed through. I think Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick had in mind to make these 2 different episodes but they didn't have enough material to make them long enough so they put them together. What I also didn't like is that Brock, Hank, and Dean were hardly in the episode either. A lot of things were left unexplained. Which is weird for a Venture Bros. episode.........These next 2 weeks are going to suck big time. The only I have to look foward to is The Boondocks on the 25th.....

I sort of understand your feelings. I mean, I could have done with a little less of the Docs hanging out. Much as I like the guys, I kept thinking "Come on, I want to see what Brock and the boys are doing with Caligula!!"
Though, I wouldn't really say the lack of explanation was the cause for this feeling. I mean, the episode was designed so that nothing in it was explained, and never will be! Jul. 18, 2006, 7:02pm

I think the most fasinating thought about the whole groundwork of the VB is that no matter how dangerous the task at hand may be, Rusty and Brock always allow the boys to come along, i'm not complaining, for what would we have if the boys weren't invited to join the havoc. LOL, i just thought it was quite interesting that the welfare of the boys (even before the second season premiere) is not cared for, and now i understand why they die off so much.

More then likely it is due to: Wanting to repeat the first couple of eps so people who missed them have a chance to see them, Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick will be at teh ComiCon, and it gives time to ensure the rest of the eps are as the animation team wantes them and are set in proper order to be aired.

I get the feeling that the reason why Dr.Venture keeps cloning the boys is not because he loves them, but that Brock forces him to do so. Think about what would happen if The Office of Secret Intelligence found out he let the person he was supposed to protect sons die 13 times. I think he is the reason the boys are still around. This thought occured to me while I was watching "Eeny, Meeny, Miney... Magic!" What do you guys think????

I think you are looking too much into it...isn't this supposed to be a comedy???...it would be nice for things to fit and have some sort of cohesion, but...sigh...wasn't it funny that Triana is traumatized by her closet her entire Life b'c it is a portal to the netherworld (even though they just recently moved in...) The point I am trying to make is don't look too much into a comedy, some things are not going to match up for the sake of a good joke....

Why are people getting so caught up in a plot or lack thereof? The point of the episode was the Dr.V vs. Dr.O showdown, not the Osiris cult; that was just a vehicle to get Venture and Orpehus arguing and allow Brock to be extremely funny.
I also can't believe no one has mentioned the classic Star Wars reference at the very end... Jul. 19, 2006, 5:52pm
