For those of you attending Comic-Con you'll have a chance to get what I'm sure is the swag you've been dreaming of. Obviously since I don't have an official Venture Bros. license I can't really make any Venture Bros. items. However this site's title conveniently contains no mention nor borrowed content from the series it is dedicated to, and thus the items pictured above were made. Stick the stickers and buttons where you want (as long as you are careful and have permission to do so) proudly showing your dedication to a fan site about a specific cartoon series.
To get it you just need to find me at Comic-Con. While that may seem daunting due to the sheer size of the place, note that I will be attending various Venture-related activities as seen on the SDCC schedule, so that could be your best chance (I will certainly be at the panel and at least one of the signings). Also every day I'll update the Mantis-Eye Twitter with the t-shirt I'm wearing (which will always be Venture Bros.-related) or possibly a place I am hanging around near, so you may be able to catch me that way as well. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you!
Above is the winner for week five, which you can buy at Nonsek if you want. This was remixed by David, who contributed a number of designs to each week. I actually worry that participation will go down for the final week since he can't win any more, but nonetheless he deserved it! Congrats to him and good luck to everyone else!
The special isn't the full thing. [AS] will air the full, glorious special right on your TV not that long after the con. So you're not really missing anything. It's like bunch of people listened to a clip of a Beatles song in 1968, then like a month later in 1968, everybody who wanted to hear the whole song got to. Now it's 2011 and who the fuck cares. Most of us heard the Beatles like 30 years later and it didn't make a difference. It's just bragging rights... Okay, rotten analogy. Whatever. I just wanted to compare us to the Beatles.
For those of you Urbaniaks out there, the man himself, James Urbaniak (the voice of Dr. Venture and Phantom Limb, but you already knew that) will be signing stuff at The Devastator booth (booth L-05 in the Small Press Pavilion) from 3pm until 4pm on Saturday.
Update (7/12): I've finally gotten off my butt and picked a winner! You can see it above and buy it at Nonsek if you like. Sorry for the delay!
11:45-12:30 Adult Swim: The Venture Bros. -- Show creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer will screen an early premiere of The Venture Bros. Special -- From the Ladle to the Grave: The Story of Shallow Gravy -- a 15-minute documentary-style animated special (premiering August 28 on Adult Swim), discuss their original series, and answer questions. The panel also features James Urbaniak (Dr. Venture). Indigo Ballroom, Hilton San Diego BayfrontThat also brings news that the special will air on Adult Swim on August 28th, and confirming James Urbaniak as part of the panel. Sadly it appears to be only for a scant 45 minutes rather than the usual hour. More stuff as it gets released!
And of course the image up top is the winning design from last week. This one goes out to all the ladies out there, with DalekEmpress coming up the winner. She wins a code but the rest of you can purchase that very shirt if you want. And there's no shame in wearing pink if you're a fella. If it's good enough for Pete White then by god it's good enough for you. Good luck with this week!
