Ladle To The Grave Capsule Mostly
Last night I finished up the capsule for "From The Ladle To The Grave: The Shallow Gravy Story". However, confession time, music videos are not my forte. In fact they are not even something I am vaguely familiar with since I spent my childhood playing Doom instead of watching MTV. So while I was able to notice a few of the references in the "Jacket" video (for example the Bob Dylan one; one everyone should know) I still need your help! Use the comments (or send me email if you're shy) to tell me what I missed. Also it was very late when I wrote it so feel free to correct any typos. Fly, my editors, fly!

(here are my guess to what theyre referencing)
-The album cover for Jacket reminds me of The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album cover
-In the scene where in the white room covered in jackets they're dressed up as the guys from Dire Straights
-The room thats covered in graffiti looks like the room from video for Fresh Prince, Parents just dont understand.
-The dance Dean does in the devil suit in the desert is from Bananaramas music video Venus
-The scene where Hank, HELPER, and Dermit are running through the forest looks like the one scene from Duran Durans music video Hungry like the wolf
-The scene where theyre all in the house and the kitchen table is on fire is from Billy Joels music video We didnt start the fire
Thats all I have so far. Aug. 31, 2011, 3:00pm

gadabout not 'get about'
noun
1.
a person who moves about restlessly or aimlessly, especially from one social activity to another.
2.
a person who travels often or to many different places, especially for pleasure.
Origin:
1810–20; noun use of verb phrase gad about
Perhaps a bit of a riff on Gadabout Gaddis The Flying Fisherman Aug. 31, 2011, 9:04pm

What part in California Girls is that scene a reference to? There's that one scene of him on a track or something sliding by but that doesn't feel like the same kind of scene.
Synchronicity seems feasible but I feel like that scene is a different reference because of all the TVs and their outfits which don't match the things in that video. It feels more distinct, but it could also be some kind of mash-up since HELPeR is painted like Peter Criss. Sep. 1, 2011, 2:02pm

There's the part where the girls are moving by and the video starts with Dave and the other characters in the video on a tram car.
Haven't seen Synchronicity in a while, but the different platforms and how they were arranged reminded me of that. Maybe Rocking in the Free World set a little bit? Sep. 2, 2011, 12:36pm

- At the beginning of the video H.E.L.P.eR is painted up like Peter Criss, the drummer for KISS
- The scene where they're running through the forest you see a cut away of the word "Jacket" in gold with a brownish background appears to be take from NIN's "Closer" video.
- Though many have mentioned the scene where the kitchen is on fire is an reference to Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire" it also may double up as a reference to when Dermott says "We set the world on fire with our sound!" and Hank replies with "Technically it was my kitchen we set on fire"
-Dont know if intentional or not...but the scene where they sing "Child's, Jacket", Hank jumps out in a Michael Jackson-esk zipper coat ala the "Beat it" video
just a few things i noticed that i hadn't seen mentioned yet Sep. 1, 2011, 1:10am
