Venture Bros. Stuff At Comic-Con 2010
For those of you attending Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego this year I've put together a schedule of all the Venture-related happenings. This includes all the panels and signings as well as any unofficial meetups I could find (so far only one). Be sure to let me know if there's anything else that should be added, and have fun to all attending!

Have we received word yet whether or not AS is going to let people record the preview clips or not? Last time really sucked because nobody knew they were gonna pull that crap with us. Then we were forced to wait roughly three weeks before they bothered to put it online...
I understand wanting to keep it secret, but after it's done airing, I don't see what the secret about it is anymore. Is it really so bad if someone uploads it a day or two after it airs? Because that's normally what happens... Jul. 20, 2010, 3:00pm

I can't imagine that's something they'll announce but I assume they wanted it to be released in a controlled fashion rather than a bunch of shaky phone videos. Almost every convention just lets you record whatever you want and then releases a high quality version the next day though, so I'm not sure why they'd do different. We'll see though I guess!

In our defense, it has little to do with keeping things a secret. People travel a long way to get to Comic Con, and often spend hours in line waiting for our panel. We feel they deserve something special for the effort--in this case, a first look at something the rest of you don't get to see for a little while. And/or Doc talking live about his body hair.
I'm also not too fond of having the public's first look at the show we've labored all year to create presented in low-res, grainy, shaky video with bad sound. We don't pull all-nighters editing this stuff just to have some schmo with a camera phone slap it up willy-nilly on the internet, you know?
HOWEVER...it never should have taken AS three weeks to put the promo clip up last year. I'll see what I can do about that. Jul. 20, 2010, 4:26pm

I completely agree with that stance. The event should feel exclusive to those who attend in some way. A two-week wait until all video of the Q&A session and any clips shown seems appropriate and required (this is a short wait in the real world....it only seems like eons on the internet's timescale)
Also, we LOVE the Venture Bros.! If you still love to make it, we'd love to have Season 5! Jul. 20, 2010, 5:31pm

I suppose that is understandable. Plus it is nice when I can actually HEAR the trailer and not people screaming and commenting on stuff nearby each other.
But thanks for talking to AS about the clip. I could understand it taking long to upload if they were the ones who put the thing together, but all they have to do is upload what you give them...which just made last year's wait more bizarre. Jul. 20, 2010, 8:36pm
