Geek Out: With Your Host Doc Hammer

Doc Hammer has updated his MySpace (yes, MySpace) with some geeky geek info for you to geek out about. If you ever wanted to know basically everything about the Guild of Calamitous Intent and its many logos then this is the update for you!

This group was formed out of the ashes of the "The Orb Fellowship", but all that remains of the Orb itself are legends and legacy. (Later picked up by a Phantom Limb in a desperate attempt to regain his power.) The Guild was not interested some ancient Tinker Toy; the Guild was interested in power. They had power in their allegiance, and they intended to use it.

I would LOVE it if they ever actually printed the GCI Handbook! Would definately shell out some hard earned cash for that puppy. I wonder if they ever updated it to finally include The Monarch?

So it's a toaster?

In all seriousness, that was relatively interesting. A bit wordy but I get what he's saying about man's struggle for greatness and the power of symbols. Reminds me a bit of Star Wars and the Death Star and all that.

I love that SW analogy.

But unlike the Death Star, the Orb never actually did anything, it was just truly a symbol or a rouse? If I am deciphering Doc-anesse correctly, it just represented the collective genius ans collaboration of history's masterminds?

I think it actually did something, or would have if somebody had activated it. It's still symbolic and all of those things you said but had some actual purpose at some time.

As for my SW analogy, I wasn't sure how geeky to go. My original thought was to compare it to the Tarkin Doctrine but I don't know how many people would get that right away.

I would have gotten it right off, your preaching to the choir here bud.

This whole discussion is just resurrecting my disappointment in the fate of Orb. That story had so much going for it, only to have it pulled out from under us. I know it goes along with the theme of failure in the show, but I would have rather they never mentioned Orb again rather than end it the way they did.

While reading up on Guild history is fun, I'd rather have an update from Jackson.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
