Second Chances
For those of you who may have missed an episode of season four point one but also refuse to watch them on your personal computer you should note that AS has released their upcoming schedule and every episode (except for Blood of the Father, Heart of Steel, which already reaired last weekend) will air in order starting the weekend after the finale in two weeks. So that's starting on the night of December 20th at midnight (technically the 21st if one wanted to get technical). Same Venture-time, same Venture-channel.

Well, that may not be such a bad idea. They could potentially have more bonus features if they split it into 2 releases. Would probably keep costs down as well. Also, less chance of double-sided disks if they split it up. If you only like half of the season, you'd only have to pay for half.
Just musing here. I have no idea how they're going to be releasing the season, and either way would work out fine for me. Dec. 4, 2009, 3:20am

Granted, I'd still purchase both sets if season four got split up upon DVD release, but I don't readily see how the split would allow for more special features.
Does anyone know if this season has been in HD like the last? I'm still debating whether to double-dip and get season three on Blu-Ray. Dec. 4, 2009, 5:59am

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I do wish Doc and Jackson would put just a bit more effort into the audio commentaries.
I mean, I get it: They're working their asses off for us, with pre-production, cranking out scripts, storyboards, directing voice-overs, *doing* voice-overs, post-production and an boatload of stuff I haven't mentioned. They're busier than probably any of us has been.
But couldn't they at least raid the fridge and do a mic check *before* they do the commentary? : ( I mean, these are DVD box sets that people are paying money for, not a free podcast on the 'Net, Dec. 5, 2009, 3:57am

It is definitely not out of line to criticize the commentaries as many fans have done it before you. Personally I find them awesome. I also like the fact that the South Park guys only do short ones. Commentaries are, by definition even, "bonus materials". We are really paying for the DVDs to have every episode at our disposal and anything else is really just gravy (it's not like AS has taken the HBO route and charged like, $100 per box set) so to me, just having commentary at all is sweet.
Clearly Doc and Jackson (and Trey and Matt) are not huge fans of doting over their own creations or doing commentary tracks at all and I think that this fact (along with their quite hilarious personalities) come across well in the tracks. Compared to many other audio commentaries out there where the commentators drone on about production details and how awesome their stuff is, the VB version is a refreshing, comedic look into the creators minds. Wow, that looks so awesome! But I can't help feeling that one makes more sense as The Better Man and this week's episode as Pinstripes and Poltergeists. Maybe AS mixed up the titles in the schedule?
Then again, we've only seen promos so far. Probably a lot more to the episodes than just that. Dec. 6, 2009, 2:49am
