Good write-up as always, but I do have a small correction. The snake guys Race was fighting I believe were henchman of Nat King Cobra, not SPHINX,

Just checked, Ian's right. The henchmen on the plane at the beginning of Ice Station Impossible worked for Nat King Cobra.

The author of the Giant Boy Detective that Dean is reading is none other than Jackson Publick. Additionally, if you look VERY closely, parts of the titles of other books in the series can be made out. The only one fully readable is the last one: "Giant Boy Detective Goes West".

Really minor, but the video game Hank is playing is the same one from the S3 dvd's artwork/menus.

I hate to be so damn picky... Hunter most def says "Coulda fooled me, PuffinFresh" Which is a reference to Pillsbury and that creepy little doughboy.

Minor animation gaff.: When Sgt. Hatred says he needs to wipe, he asks for Hank's "magazine" because there's no TP, but you can see a full roll next to him (to his left - our right) durring the whole scene. When we cut to Hank on the throne, this time there is no TP.

Oh, yeah. When Torrid was using the Venture bathroom in Fallen Arches, the TP he accidently sets ablaze is to the right (viewer's left) of the toilet, which is the opposite side from where it is in the above mentioned scene. And no, I don't have a bathroom fixation, but I do have to go #2. Hope I'm not out of shit tickets!

At first, I thought it was a typo, but every instance of the word SPHINX is spelled SPINX

Ugh, you know what happened there, I typo'd it when I wrote the credits, and then I just copied that spelling because I assumed I had copied it correctly and the misspelling was intentional. Fixed now, thanks.

Two things I'm still trying to figure out:

1. Brock's sweater when he's living with Summers and Sasquatch (the logo where there's an A with a star in the middle, and the left side of the A looks like a hockey stick) looks really damn familiar but I can't place it.

2. What's the deal with Hank's fox mask when he's trying to snipe at the nazis?

One more thing to add. There's a reference to that Tim Allen movie, The Santa Clause in both Brock Sampson's weight/ facial hair pattern when he puts on the pounds and in his goodbye speech to Hank at the end of the episode--it's almost entirely lifted from the speech Tim Allen gives his son in the movie when he goes away to be Santa.

I wonder is SPHINX really did still exist, or if Hunter just resurrected it to use as a cover / ruse for whatever he's up to.

One possibility, there are others.

1)SPHINX never went defunct. Gather's defection was real (as in it was truthful to the reasons listed in Assassinanny 911) and he wanted Brock with him the whole time, and just needed a way to get him out of the Venture Compound. Brock was totally ready to kill him in that ep, so if Gathers just came out and asked Brock to leave with him, I doubt he would've.

2) SPHINX was defunct at one point, and our old friend Phantom Limb resurrected it, gathering as many ex-OSI agents as possible to topple the OSI and the Guild.

Wait! Where was there any idication that Phantom Limb had anything to do with SPHINX? Did I miss some clue? Not saying it's implausible mind you, but I can't see Hunter working to Limb. We can be pretty sure that Limb WILL be back this season from the S4 trailer (Sousaphone!), and I'm betting it'll be in episode 4, "The Revenge Society". Limb's m.o. would probably be to somehow get the O.S.I. and the Guild to go all out at one other.

Mind you, there was no real hint that Limb has anything to do with SPHINX, but a number of people have mentioned that possibility, so I figured it was worth mentioning. It's pure conjecture at this point.

And with as many people watching out for Limb, I doubt his being in charge of SPHINX would be made very public. Look at David Bowie. Only a handful of people knew he was the Sovereign

Very nice write up. One more note- when Brock tells Dean to tell Hank to 'stay gold', it's a reference to The Outsiders, an 80's movie full of tough but sensitive boys (Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, etc.)http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086066/

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
