Ben is modeled after Jeff Bridges, especially his character in the Big Lebowski. He is wearing a shirt that says "Surf's Up" which is a reference to the movie by the same name about surfing penguins where in Bridges voices of the protagonists.

Oh right, I remember that crossing my mind at some point but then just forgetting to put it in there. Thanks, I will add that in!

Actually, Ben's face was modeled after Nick Nolte's, though it doesn't come across that way in the animation as much as it did on the model sheet. And sure, there's definitely some of The Dude in there, intentionally. But I have to draw the line at the idea that the "Surf's Up Waikiki" t-shirt is in any way a "reference" to a penguin movie, or Jeff Bridges' involvement therein. It's just a surf bum t-shirt.

This always happens...

You guys create some character... and everyone goes "oh he's based off of..." and then you have to speak up and set them right.

It's just coincidences people!!

Ben does look like Nick Nolte in that Hulk film now that JP mentions it.

All hail the master, for he has spoken!

Thanks for everything, Love the Fans.

Nice job. Just a few quick things though- Dermott says Orpheus should be wearing sweat pants (which, with the wife-beater, would give Orpheus that 'ironic' white-trash look). Ben calls his creature 'Rico', as in the spanish version of Rich. Also, it's not a Rubik's cube that Outrider solves- it's called a Lemarchand's box. Otherwise, great job- especially liked the pictures of the pleasure toast.

Wait, it is a Rubik's cube. Sorry about that. Didn't get a close look before. Oh, and thing Dermott mentions about making shoes out of peoples' skins is probably an Ed Gein reference.

The little creature's name should be spelled Reco, since his full 'fancy' name (according to Ben) is 'Recombinant something something' (can't remember the last two words, but they were probably latin for something).

Reco's full name included the term Lusus naturae , which is latin for freak of nature and also( almost certainly unintentionally) a reference to the popular web comic Homestuck

I think you should add to your commentary how disturbing Kidz Bop is. Children happily singing songs that contain very mature lyrics is extremely off-putting.

No mention of The Master as Santa Claus? Orpheus informed us that Santa Claus was killed in 1963 in the only other holiday special.

The Outrider had to solve a Rubik's Cube Puzzle to escape the cenobite experiments, where in Hellraiser solving a puzzle transports you TO that realm. (I know it's in the synopsis, but not in the notes)

Lest you forget, the holiday special was entirely Dr. Venture's dream, so nothing in it counts! (except for the very end)

I know it was a dream, but that doesn't mean a lot of the things in it weren't true. Likely it was made from bits and pieces of Doc's memory. Dean and Hank listening to stories over the phone, Dean trying to get old toys, Brock's mentioning of Venture tradition, conversations Doc has, etc., etc. I think a lot of pieces we can accept as canon.

Was Rico supposed to be Orang Pendek?

I believe he's more of an Island of Dr. Moreau reference

Orang Pendek... no, it's Orang Vendek... some sort of proto human with Venture DNA.

Perhaps the clone research resulted in it existing at all.

Perhaps it has Jonas Venture DNA... and Rico may become an important future proto human character.

Perhaps Doc just likes ball jokes and freaky Orang Vendek.

The world may never know.

If that was the 331st annual meeting of the Brimstone Assembly, then that means the first was held back in 1681. I wonder if that has any historical significance. That is assuming this episode was taking place on Oct. 31 of this year.

Also, although it's an obvious pop culture reference I feel it deserves a mention in the capsule. When Red Mantle says he's going to perform an old trick with a twist and Al replies, "What's the twist, Bullwinkle?" it is in reference to the Jay Ward animated character Bullwinkle J. Moose who frequently attempted to pull a rabbit out of his hat with various unintended results. I wonder if Red Dragoon fared any better?

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
