Things I loved about this episode:

--Nien Nunb. Coming to life from a fucking Star Wars collectable card game card.
--Hank's classic pilot henchman suit.
--Dean in the henchmen cowl (super cute), and Dean actually being the smart one.
--21's "Venture Bros" skull T-shirt.
--ICARUS!
--The Land O Lakes girl aka Princess Littlefeet (finally, just like Klaus--and was that Iggy Pop?).
--Dr Fiancee.
--24 feeling Monarch's super-annoying voice in his eyes.
--The whole thing with the Order of the Triad.
--BOWIE!

And Dr Girlfriend has a VERY good reason to hate Venture now. I don't think she'll let Monarch give it up after this.

- Yes that was Iggy
- I thought the 'Princess' was a pastiche of the Land O'Lakes maiden and 'Sacheen Littlefeather', hence 'Tinyfoot' - but that may just be me.
- Hank as the Russian meeting Sgt. Hatred may also be based on Gen. Patton's storied hatred of the Russian Allies during WWII, the Sgt. is pretty obviously a takeoff of Patton. But once again, that may just be me.
- What WAS that puppet (oops maquette) that Hank took the goatee off of?

I thought it could either be Doctor Zin from Johnny Quest, or Fu Man Chu.

hmm...that puppet. 21 said it's name when he and hank were fighting with it. i forget it's name, but it was this lame, bald puppet from the late-70s/early-80s, which came with a bunch of disguises. including beards and glasses and hats and (i think) wigs. minutes of fun. lame, totally lame, stephen hawking lame.

props to 21s closet full of "more toys than a girl."

I saw one of the 'Hugo' puppets on Ebay - after seeing what it comes with, it's more like 'Man of 30-or-so Faces' instead of a thousand.

Hugo was a very popular toy in its time. I remember wanting one so badly. I almost shit myself laughing when he appeared in this episode. That is part of what makes The Venture Brother's great - the knowledge of pop culture.

Rather than the Land-O-Lakes squaw, Princess Littlefeet was likely a reference to the mid-70s Mazola Corn Oil girl, who would be on her knees in a corn field saying, "Your people call it corn; my people call it maize."

I think all of these are correct, she's a mix of all the Indian Maiden stereotypes floating around in media and the backs of our festering minds.

Except maybe not the Argo corn starch maid (no relation to Odysseus's dog).

I loved that one line the Alchemist said, referring to the Nien Nunb character: "Should we take him in the back and kill him with a shovel or somethin'?"
