My theory to why he said it was a bust is because they had to switch rooms last minute. The room they usually do that track in is a bit smaller, but their audio/speakers blew out. So they moved it to the ballroom in the Westin. Which is the second largest ballroom in the con.
Putting the amount of people who would usually show up to that panel in a giant ballroom (about 100 or so) looks weird. So, that is my guess.

The panel itself brought up some good points. Stuff in the ballpark of everyone wearing Joy Division shirts nowadays, how much easier it is for younger kids to discover goth bands via the internet, "goth clubs", and so on.
I recorded the whole panel on a friend's flipcam. I'm waiting for them to upload it. But I'd say despite the whole giant room/small crowd thing, it was a really good panel.
