I'll be honest- this is a weaker episode for me. It's still good (even the worst Venture Bros. ep is pretty good) but there are much stronger Season 3 episodes in my opinion. I especially have issues with the ending.

Gotta disagree with you here. Even though it isn't the one of the first ones on the first disk I go for, I still really like the ones that delve deeply into Rusty's psyche (Assisted Suicide, anyone?). Rusty's one of my favorite characters, along with Phantom Limb and Col. Gathers.

Plus, how can you go wrong with Dr. Killinger?

I agree with you about Killenger and dealing with Rusty's demons but the whole General Manhowers/JJ is doing good and Rusty is doing bad thing feels forced. I still don't like the ending though. It comes out of nowhere in a bad way. Are Manhowers and Killenger the gods of old or something? Why the hell are they talking constellations with a library PSA? It just doesn't sit well with me.

There are things I like about the episode, like the journey through Rusty's issues and most of Killenger's scenes. Like I said, even the weakest episodes are pretty good. I just don't care for it as much compared to other episodes.

I suppose since, in my line of work, stages are important, it would be easy for me in enjoy the ending.

The talking-constellation thing was, I'm pretty sure, just a stupid fourth-wall breaking joke. I think the point is that initially it seems as though Killinger appearing in the stars may be a representation of his incredible power, but when Manhowers shows up it's just plain silly.

For me a good majority of Season 3 falls into the "weaker" category, but man I love this episode's ending. "That's right, Killer! And you can read more about it in the bible!" That was good stuff.
