Captain Sunshine was mentioned two other times in the series before this episode. The second mention comes in the episode Powerless in the Face of Death during the henchmen meeting. If you listen carefully, Herman the henchman (or Charlie the henchman) mentions Captain Sunshine being responsible for the downfall of Crimeodile:
"Anyway, Captain Sunshine kept on his tail, kept on it, ship goes down, Captain Sunshine takes down one more evil doer."
Captain Sunshine also is mentioned by the Monarch at the Guild ball during the story he tells Truckules and Sheila in the Shadowman 9 episode. It's interesting that so early in The Monarch's career he was battling the big guys like Captain Sunshine.
"And then Captain Sunshine pulls the trigger and, of course, nothing. To this day, he still thinks I'm invulnerable."

Damn! I forgot the Powerless in the Face of Death reference! You did not mention--probably because it was mention in the other commentary--that he is also mentioned by The MONARCH asking if the "charred remains of Wonderboy" have been "sent to Captain Sunshine" in his list of instructions to 24 and 21 at the beginning of Return to Spider Skull Island.
