Yeah, I'm not quite ready to buy the idea of Jonas Venture's death by Kano just yet. For one, it wasn't tacitly admitted to, just a long pause by Kano. Second, there was no footage whatsoever of this 'event', only the fresh scene of Col. Venture getting taken out by HIS bodyguard. Thirdly, if Jonas was killed because of the ORB, then it simply doesn't make sense that he would have been allowed to hide it so elaborately, as it would appear (given Brock's awaiting of Rusty's decision of what to do with the ORB before deciding whether or not to kill him) that death is only required if one intended to actually USE the thing (which of course begs the question of why, if OSI doesn't want this thing activated, they don't just destroy the thing or at least take it and hide it themselves...).
An aside: It seems that Kano's silence was due to some previous sin... Correct me if I'm wrong, but Kano was a 'mute' back during the old Team Venture days, when Jonas was still alive, again casting doubt on Kano having actually done Jonas in.
Interestingly enough, though, the inclusion of Fantomas in the flashback (as well as several name drops for him during the flashback) tells me that Phantom Limb is probably going to be deeply involved in whatever's happening in the next episode...

Kano admits right off the bat that "I have taken from this world a great man" but unlike Mr. Doe I don't think he means as in cold blooded murder. I think he was indeed complicit in Jonas Venture's disappearance (his appearances in flashbacks have always been fairly brief, so it's possible he was merely quiet back then and not actually under a self-imposed silence). But having confessed his guilt to begin with, why does he clam up when Brock asks him about it? I think the answer is more complicated than a straight yes or no. Maybe Kano sent him on a one-way trip to another dimension, or into the future or some such. Another possibility that Jonas did actually activate the orb and beamed himself into another place or time (or possibly just killed himself on accident) and Kano is reluctant to answer Brock because he failed to stop Jonas when he was supposed to. That's less likely given the orb's elaborate hiding place, though, unless someone else (Kano?) hid it afterwards.

coulda been a "Blink" thing too, where the Doctor on that there BBC program puts hella easter eggs on one girl's DVD... so she'd find it as a dialogue with her.. and transcribe it, save the Doctor, see him afterwards and give him that transcript... that he'd use when he was stuck in 1969 to influence a DVD duplicator, also thrown back in time... to create the easter eggs for the girl to find.

Yeah Kano appeared to be mute back before Jonas Venture Sr. was dead. I mean all of his appearances since season 1 he has never spoken in any flashback even though Jonas would give him orders all the time all he ever did was nod and comply. So I feel like he killed someone important prior to becoming Jonas Sr.'s bodyguard.
However his silence when Brock asks if he killed Jonas Sr. doesn't indicate anything. He could have also killed his old boss (as well as whoever else he killed first), or he could simply know how Jonas Sr. died and doesn't want to bring it up. I'm really hoping they bring it up in the last two episodes this season because I really want to know damnit >:( Aug. 12, 2008, 12:34am
