Wow, I really didn't expect to see everybody hating on this episode! The first thing I thought when I saw it was "BEST EPISODE EVER!!!" It's one of the few, the proud! It's up there with "Assassinanny 911" and the ghost pirate episode!
Then again, I'm at a disadvantage here. Of all the episodes to miss, I HAD to miss the one that everybody is raving about. I was out of town for college orientation last Sunday, so I missed "Victor Echo November!" Maybe that's the reason why this episode doesn't seem so bad to me?
Of course, my taste could just be whacko. I didn't like "Powerless in the Face of Death" (In fact, it frightened me at first, making me think a drop in quality had happened between the seasons!) as much as everyone else.
Of course, I can't systematically explain why it rocks. It's much easier to explain why something sucks than why it rocks.

Kinda funny that you mention Ghosts of the Sargasso as one of your favorites... one of these days this website is going to have to make a voting system to see how people rank all the episodes. My favorites from season one were probably "Mid-life Chrysalis", "Tag Sale, You're It!", and "Return to Spider-Skull Island"... but I dunno...
I really do need to get the DVD, it's been too long since I've seen most of those. I just hope when season 2 finishes Adult Swim starts running VB like they did Home Movies: late at night but almost every night. I'd stay up.
