That's because they never met before. They were both in the cocoon in Dia de los Dangerous, but they never interacted, and she was at Dr. Venture's tag sale, but they never saw each other there either. And during her testamony in Trial of the Monarch Dean wasn't in the courtroom.
Kind of funny actually, but they do a really good job of keeping up continuity.
