End of the Weekdays

Just a reminder that tonight is the last weekday Venture Bros. will be airing I assume for a long time (possibly at least until season two has completed its first run, assuming there is one). It will, as far as I can tell, continue to air on Saturday nights at 11:30pm, probably until they re-air each episode. That should keep it on the air through January or so, at which point CN will evaluate everything and decide if the second season is a go. Also don't forget the Christmas episode which will show on the 19th as mentioned in the update below.

VB Christmas Special

In case you didn't know, the VB Christmas special will air Sunday, December 19th at 11:45pm EST. It's a 15 minute episode, but promises to be chock full of goodness. Here's the summary, which I waxed from Toonzone:

In the Christmas speical, Dr. Venture is a bit behind on his shopping, but he's excited about hosting his annual Christmas Eve shindig. Brock turns out to have some sentimental Yuletide traditions. Dean and Hank, who still believe in Santa Claus, accidentally unlock a magical demon who threatens to ruin Dr. Venture's annual Christmas party and murder all his guests. Dr. Billy Quizboy and Mr. White hit on Traina, Dr. Orpheus' underage daughter. Meanwhile, The Monarch plans the ultimate gift for Dr. Girlfriend--the destruction of the entire Venture Compound.

Watch it! And tell your friends to watch it! I can't stress that enough, you need to watch it. Pointed out by Proudlegion on SA.

We Are A Go!

This is the first update I make before I make the site public... by telling people that it actually exists. A big huge thanks to Mancubus.net for the hosting, which gets the site onto a real connection instead of my cable modem. That's about that folks, enjoy!

TV Tome Is a Big Jerk!

From TV Tome's VB page yet again... Chris McCulloch e-mailed TV-Tome with this:

Hello, this is Chris McCulloch (aka Jackson Publick) from the Venture Bros...noticed on tvtome a little new item claiming a I had "leaked info out to several sources" that a second season of our little comedy/adventure epic was "set in stone". Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth. Okay, the world being flat...that's further from the truth, but so far the network and I have not discussed it other than to discuss a potential future date in which the MIGHT be prepared to start discussing it. The way things stand right now, they probably will not have done the ratings assessment nor the financial assessment necessary to make any decisions about a greenlight until at least January, when the shows have all re-aired. Another thing I wish you were right about is our ratings having matched Futurama's and Family Guy's. Again, not so...we've been beating Sealab but haven't even approached Aqua Teen Hunger Force's numbers as of yet--which, I suspect, is the "magic number" the network's been waiting to see. Off the record. But who knows, perhaps this "leaked" news item is in fact your own clever ploy to get the show renewed, by making Adult Swim look like fools for going back on their alleged word if they don't--a clever bit of misdirection in a world that thinks that Sadam Hussein invaded the World Trade Center--it just might work! Anyway, officially speaking, I'm unemployed, save for post-production on our Venture Christmas special, and do not expect this situation to be reversed until the new year, if at all!

But thanks for caring...

So there you go. Season two is still very much in the air, though the ratings continue to be strong for Saturday night (which very often falls short of Sunday which is when ATHF is aired), so I like to think there's still a pretty good chance of renewal. Oh, last weekend's airing of Eeny pulled in 481k viewers for third behind Futurama and FMA.

Chris McCulloch Speaks

From TV Tome's VB page:

Christopher McCulloch has leaked info out to several sources that season two is pretty much set in stone. With the show garnishing as many ratings as shows such as Futurama and Family Guy, and proving it could hold its own on a night swamped with anime programming, the show's cast and crew didn't need to say much in meetings with CN heads. One of the big demands known to the public is the desire to move to Sunday nights with all the high-profile programming, rather than to be stuck on Saturday with a replay the following evening.

Of course no sources are mentioned at all, so who the hell knows if this is true or accurate... plus it's TV Tome.

More Capsules And Ratings

Episodes up to 110 are capsuled now, only Tag-Sale, Past Tense, Trial and Spider-Skull to go. Whew. Also episode 103 played last week pulled in 478k viewers. Not as good as the previous week, but good enough to jump back up to second place. The second run ratings seem good, so the probability of the show getting renewed seem pretty good, though I have no real knowledge of how CN goes about these things.

More Ratings

I'm actually updating at the same exact time (2:06) as I did last time I updated. Spooky, in a lame sort of way. Last weekend's episode (Careers in Science) pulled down 501k viewers coming in third for the night behind Futurama and FMA. Good stuff. If the ratings for the second run keep around that number (mid to high 400k and better) VB is a shoe-in for season two. I've got up to Ghosts capsuled, enjoy!

Ratings!

Ratings for last Saturday's showing of Dia de los Dangerous! - 561,000. That's a lot of cajoles. Keep up the good work kids.

Thinking of Headlines is Hard

Yay updates are fun. At this rate I'll have the episode capsules done in... a while. Super Milk Chan is on AS right now. What the hell is this crap? Seriously. What?

SCUBA

SCUBA. Sounds funny. SCUBA.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
