Season Six: Done But Not Forgotten

In case you didn't hear, season six of Venture Bros. finished up last night. Did you catch every episode? If you didn't, I have some good news: it will be re-airing all this week, starting tonight at 1am (eastern/pacific, adjust accordingly for your own timezone) on Adult Swim. You can also check out the extra-special, hour-long "All This And Gargantua-2" this upcoming Sunday night at 12:30am. After that, next Thursday night (March 31st) becomes Throwback Thursday and you can re-watch season one in all its non-HD, kinda badly animated glory.

Still not satisfied? Then head over to Adult Swim's Venture Bros. video page where you can watch the first five episodes of season six and "Gargantua-2" for free! No questions asked. You can also check out "A Party For Tarzan" and "Red Means Stop" if you have a cable provider login (or a generous friend who has one). That should hold you over until season seven, right? Okay, probably not, but you should be used to the waiting by now. Happy watching!

Good on [AS] for rerunning the new season and then entire show from the beginning.

Agree. This show doesn't get nearly enough airtime. With the expanded [as] schedule that runs these days (compared to the early days when Venture Bros. started), there is plenty of room to broadcast this gem of a show (amongst other past [as] highlights). [as] being the nightly Seth MacFarlane showcase was getting old 6 years ago, let alone today.

Almost had a freakout at the headline on Adult Swim about Red Means Stop: "Watch the Venture Bros. Season Finale! It's the last one you're getting (for awhile)" More hinting of a renewal...

Rewatching these--just rewatched the second to last episode, The Monarch[!--Ed.]'s final line "I look great! I'm in the clear!" comes from a movie which I just cannot remember! I would put this in that commentary, but I do not know if anyone will read it.

Meanwhile, I missed the first time that what convinces Dr. Mrs. The Monarch[!--Ed.] to "take the shot" is when Wide Whale asks her if she is going to wait until "Blue Morpho" slits her husband's throat. Something for all of us wondering about her relationship with The Monarch[!--Ed.] this season and, hopefully, into next season.

My two favorite shows scored by the same awesome musical genius? Can it get any better? I always liked the music on Archer and was surprised to find out it was stock.

I am starting to suspect that Jonas Sr. was Force Majeure. All these pieces here and there seem to vaguely fit. He was likely killed by, or deposed by The Sovereign, or perhaps just wanted to retire anonymously and handed the Guild over to him. The Sovereign even briefly took on Jonas' form in ATAG2.

* We always see him and Team Venture battling members of the Fraternity or Torment, not Guild villains, and the FoT was a rival organization of the Guild.
* The Monarch's dad / Blue Morpho (I don't think he's on OUR side)/ Venturion / Vandata. The "plane crash". Kano's confession about taking from the world a great man. Kano Joining Team Venture. Col. Gentleman - "Don't believe everything you read in those comics." And we haven't heard the last about the baby killing either. They can't just drop it like that.
* The Monarch can't remember playing with Rusty as a child.
* Doc probably doesn't remember playing with young Malcolm either, and maybe that's why Doc also didn't remember Hector (not just because Doc is dick). Memory wipe or alteration likely.

There is something very sinister going on. Jonas probably played at being a "good guy" in the public eye but behind the scenes he ran the Guild of Calamitous Intent. And he might come back!

Remember that Dean Venture was the true ruler of the Guild and had to confirm the Sovereign in his role. And that was because the title came down through Rusty, Jonas and Jonas's father and Grand-father (who with Phantom Limb's grandfather founded the Guild. So Jonas as Force Majeure seems likely. Whereas Jonas was playing as a good guy or as a bad guy is a bit of a toss-up since the Guild seems as much to hamstrung villains' natural tendency toward maximum violence. As for Jonas's death I'd like to think he was killed by Kano when Kano discovered that Jonas was responsible for Blue Morpho's death. With Jonas thinking that Morpho was getting out of hand and becoming a liability to his operation. As for Rusuty not remembering Malcolm.... well there has been a lot of drugs involved. Also there were probably a lot of things Rusty simply doesn't want to remember about his childhood. The Monarch, too, probably suffered memory loss from all the milkweeds he ate following the crash. Also maybe a major concussion.

Of course If we're talking about memory wipes and everything, perhaps there never as a crash, Jonas merely implanted those memories into Malcolm along with an irrational hatred of Rusty to give Rusty a nemesis on the grounds that a foe would keep him sharp. And it would mess up all links to him and the Guild.

And of course there's still the idea that Rusty and Malcolm are clones to hide Jonas's sterility. Rusty could never have developed the closing tanks on his own ... but if he found his father's secret cloning tanks....

Man, I'd love a Venture Bros comic book with art by Dan Spiegel...

In the Halloween special Ben says that he and Jonas perfected cloning, so Doc didn't develop them but inherited them. Ben also says he had something to do with cloning Hank and Dean so he likely helped Doc and taught him how to use the the equipment.

I still think the plane crash was real (Vandata's last words), and Kano is a crackerjack pilot, despite his racial handicap. Jonas likely somehow convinced or coerced Kano into piloting the plane, sabotaging it, and then bailing out, then joining Team Venture afterwards. If Kano killed Jonas because he though Jonas killed BM, he probably wouldn't have said he took a vow a silence because he took from this world a great man. He likely wouldn't think Jonas was so great for murdering his old boss and likely friend. And he was silent in all the flashbacks with Jonas still alive. Kano killing Jonas is just too simple and Doc and JP don't seem to usually go in the predictable direction. And I still think Jonas faked is own death.

Read a great theory that Monarch's mother is Force Majeure, I'll try to find it again.

I'll read it if you find it, but I just don't see that. Someone mentioned the b&w video with BM and Jonas was from a movie about Bob Crane and the photography buddy of his who likely murdered him. If that's true, and there's a meaning to that allusion, then it says something about the relation between Jonas and BM.

Eh. I'm about as convinced that they are right as I am about my own theory being correct, which is not that much. One word that cannot be used to describe Doc and JP is "predictable".

You beat me to it! Venture Bros. officially lives on!!!
Anyway, Rick & Morty and Venture Bros. are the only returning cartoons. Wow. RC isn't actually a cartoon and Mike Tyson wasn't mentioned. All other returning shows are live action. Get ready for new cartoons and tons of new live action shows.

AS upfront party is May 18th, it'll all be set in stone official then.

Want Venture Bros. Season 6 on DVD and Blu-ray?

Then show Warner Home Video that you do!

All seasons of the Venture Bros. are currently dirt cheap on Amazon, only $10.50 for season 5 on Blu-ray. Get time to upgrade your collection to blu-ray or buy the first five seasons for someone else.

Warner will only continue to release what sells very well, keep that in mind.

I saw a story a few weeks back where a car lost control on a rotary (or roundabout as it's call in some parts) and became airborne, flying up over the center hub just like the Harangueatank. So that is plausible too.

Partial bad news today Venture Bros. merchandise fans....

As of 2016 BifBangPow! has officially retired it's Venture Bros. line of products.

If they still have the licensing rights in the future they could drop a few more convention exclusives... like they did after they cancelled Dexter stuff... but don't expect anymore figures and glassware.

Oh well, the never made Brock's car like they said they would... and I think Helper was a hilarious figure to end the line on.

The Venture Bros. Panel from NYCC 2016 is archived on Twitch at the mail channel. Some minor spoilers to follow... Orpheus and Dermott have both been written in to Season 7, though the latter in small doses. They are finishing working on the scripts and they hope to start production in the next month or two. They have said this before but the first episode of Season 7 will act as a finale to Season 6. (Much like how the Gargantua-2 special ended Season 5 on a proper note). They are very conscious that the past two seasons have not had a proper finale and they are trying to fix that in Season 7. While they have not been renewed for a Season 8, they HAVE NOT been cancelled. In fact, they said they are specifically not writing Season 7 as if it were the last one. Finally, The Art of the Venture Bros. is still a go! It has expanded into a much bigger book than they imagined and Ken Plume has been doing the work on it. It has material from all six seasons, and it sounds like an in-depth interview that spans the entire book. Release date and information still to come.
