V.E.N. Capsule And Rate The Shows

First off I should mention that the V.E.N. capsule and notes have been up for a couple days now; I just forgot to update about it here (until now). I've been screwing around with some of the non-capsule content as well, so there are a couple additions/changes to the characters page and I've added skeleton capsules for the remaining episodes of season two (aside from the last one, which has not been named yet). I've also got a crapload of e-mail to get to, but I just want to thank everyone for all their info and insights, because there's no way I would have as comprehensive notes as I have without some of you guys. Rock on!

Nextly I added a quick feature to the capsules where you can rate each episode on a five-star level. So now we'll have some sort of weird Mantis-Eye ranking system for each episode. Just go over to any episode page and you'll see a little dropdown under the title of the episode. Select the vote you want and hit 'Rate' and you're done! You won't be able to see the show's current score until you vote, though I'll probably put up some kind of comparison chart in the near future. Enjoy, and let me know if anything breaks!

Oh yeah, no new episode this weekend. Sadness. After that there's two new ones, then another one week break, and then the final four episodes. See you guys in heck.

The ratings thing looks good... I went through all of them and put in my votes... as you said, it would be great to have a few comparison charts or something when you get a chance... The site is looking great as always :)...

by the way... was this (the rating system) in response to reply #66 of the Love-Bheits discussion board? or was this idea already in the works by that time?

I had the rating idea for a while, but I never got around to addin it. I finally sat down and wrote it on Saturday (finished it today) though. And I actually hadn't even read that entire post, great minds and all that I guess.

Well then if you don't mind, I'll go ahead and take credit for it.
My mind is blown that Assassinanny 911 doesn't have 5 stars. Hell, I'm surprised it hasn't had to somehow evolve a 6th just to keep up with demand. I always kind of thought it was the ultimate VB episode... interesting.

A lot of people seem to think this is the very best show, but I only rated it as a 4 because there are probably 3-4 other episodes I liked better, and I can't use 5's TOO many times.

I just went through and rated every episode. I tried to keep in mind that even the worst episode of Venture Bros. (apparently the pilot) beats the pants off of the very best 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' etc. and I'm only comparing the individual shows to the series as a whole.

Still, the pilot was the only ep. to get under two stars from me, and that's understandable because ONE of them had to be the 'worst ever'... I feel a rating of one should mean 'meh' rather than pretty crappy.

Now I'd love to see some sort of running summary, with number of votes cast & a little bar graph showing the quantity of 0's to 5's. But I'm happy to wait for that until sometime between season 2 & 3, during the lull :)

Thanks for adding this feature!

I agree, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It wasn't as funny as V.E.N., but it was a very solid episode, and I'm a real sucker for continuity stuff, and it had that in globs. The mob has spoken I guess.

I haven't seen it mentioned in the discussion area, but has anyone noticed during the rolling of the end credits, under the list of Animation Direction Supervisor(s), a nickname is always given to Mr. Kimson Albert in each episode. Examples from the 2nd season of VB:

Powerless in the Face of Death - Kimson "President of Calendars" Albert
Hate Floats - Kimson "Nice Onesie" Albert
Assassinanny 911 - Kimson "Who da Masta?" Albert
Escape to the House of Mummies - Kimson "Mummy Mum Muggy" Albert
20 Years to Midnight - Kimson "Bit of a Giggle puss" Albert
Victor-Echo-November - Kimson "Heat Incarnate" Albert
Love Bheits - Kimson "Retard Strength" Albert

Way too funny! It's almost reminiscent of the nicknames given to the folks who create The Simpsons Halloween specials.

Hmm... a character in the Simpson's episode "Pygmoelian" was introduced as "Duff's vice president of calendars and fake IDs"... that was just stuck in my head, not sure if it is a reference or a coincidence... all of the others seem pretty original

Yeah, me and my roommates started to notice the nicknames with the first season after 'Midlife Chrysalis'. There he's Kimson 'All out of Condom' Albert and we've been looking for them ever since. It's another reason to pay attention to who does what for the show.

Do you think the final episode of season 2 will be unnamed until the episode airs. i've been trying to think of anything that might give an episode away based on the title, but yet the titles are yet to reveal any info that may answer some of the major questions about the show.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
