Extensive Jackson & Doc Interview at Swimpedia

Swimpedia has a lengthy and quite excellent interview with Jackson and Doc that is very much worth reading. They go into specifics about the history of the show, the movie, what they're up to next, their relationship, and even some things they were planning for the cancelled season 8 of Venture Bros..

Ok, f it- I can’t seem to log in so I’m going on anon.

This is a fun one. I will say this- how can you sell out of DVDs if you don’t produce DVDs? I don’t have a Blu-Ray so that bugged me. Also, Morel Orel sucks- Frankenhole was way better, guys. Get on that. Still, glad they mentioned Are You There God? It’s Me, Dean’- that one’s my absolute favorite.

Different strokes for different folks- I was probably too harsh, but I don’t really like Morel Orel.

In all honesty, Baby Blues wasn’t that bad either. It wasn’t an Adult Swim show (just re-aired after its WB run), but it did what it set out to, and made no secret of it. Now, Minoriteam- that’s an obscure Adult Swim show (and one I think deserves more love).

You know, having something new inspired me to start going through the archives, and it’s been quite a ride. Mike, you ever thought of doing a retrospective, considering we’re probably not going to get much more? Brought up a lot of good memories for me, and I’m about to hit the scandal that rocked the site those many years ago.

That is an awesome interview! Glad that they mentioned in it that ATHF has already had some additional episodes after their cancellation, so hope springs eternal!

MH, what was the scandal that you mentioned?

Well, it wasn’t really a scandal and it didn’t really rock the site- I just wanted to give it a bit of flair. I honestly barely remembered it until I got close and I was one of the few who actually cared- still, voter fraud is never cool. Go back to the last month or two of 2010 and check out posts on a round robin (or something like that) of ‘who would beat who’. Pay close attention to the villains bracket.

Ok, so it was mostly in October of 2010, with a little in November. Anyway, you get the effect more if you follow the whole thing from start to finish.

Honestly I am just impressed that page still works. I don't know if it was a "scandal" as much as people got their friends to vote for stuff haha. Though I don't think the voting system was very sophisticated, so there was certainly the possibility of low level voter fraud (I have not inspected the ballots!)

No, there was- there was that guy who voted for Truckules a bunch more times than he should have been able to and almost got him to the finals because of it. That’s why Hatred was in both brackets- that was the only one that was for sure affected (though Monstroso’s loss probably was too).

I actually got to a more controversial point last night- Season 4.1, with all the Hatred … well, hatred. We got into some huge discussions about if all the pedophila stuff worked and what to even do with him. Those were some skinny threads.

I love this website. Mike's capsules and all the references that are archived here (with help from the community) have greatly enhanced my enjoyment of The Venture Bros. The community has largely been great (yes, there were some hot moments). Big THANK YOU to Mike for providing us all a place to gather.

Man, I wish I could figure out why I can’t log in because I want to give this a like. I finished my look back a while ago but I’ve been wanting to say something like this- as I went back to before I was The Mysterious ‘H’ (when I was posting as H), I noticed how much more confident and comfortable with you all (and myself and the internet in general) I was. So definitely a big thanks to Mike and The Mantis Eye Experiment for helping me become who I am and find my online identity (I use my Mysterious H identity most of the places I am active on the internet).

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
