Bundled with the upcoming Season 3 Blu-Ray release (and presumably sold separately) will be a much-lauded soundtrack, as you may know. A track list has finally surfaced (or maybe it surfaced a while ago, but it's the first I'm hearing of it) so you can lament that you don't yet own the damned thing and also maybe guess which tracks are which:
  1. Brock Graveside
  2. Tuff
  3. Tensssacts
  4. 13 BigMon / Boys as Transformers
  5. Node Wrestling
  6. Thunder-Bro
  7. Damion
  8. Assclamp!
  9. Mississippi Noir
  10. VB1 Spag
  11. Bolly
  12. Gawker
  13. Descension
  14. Warped Carousel
  15. Sexy Sultry
  16. In a spaceage Mood
  17. X1 Krashi / woozzy
  18. Warped Span
  19. Fumblestealth
  20. VB Theme
The DVD and Blu-Ray come out on March 24th in the US, in case you needed a reminder.

So which track is the infamous Zeppelin pastiche?

If you mean 'Mitre Storm' that's not a Thirlwell original (it's by Doc), so it won't be on this CD

Not to nitpick, but this may help people looking to track down these songs:

Mitre Storm is actually the title of the Doc/Myra love theme that plays in Caged Bird, and it DOES circulate in its complete version.

The Zep pastiche is called Hobbit Ride, and Mike is right in saying that it's a Doc tune. I've never come across it in circulation.

So the real question I have is this: when are they going to release a line of figures? Who WOULDN'T buy them? They have guarded this property very closely. Isn't it high time we had a line of good collectibles. I mean, the product marketing plan practically writes itself! "Each Wave 1 figure comes with a piece allowing you to build the Grand Galactic Inquisitor!" Jesus. I'm BEGGING to give you my money FFS!

I want a phantom limb figure where the arms are made of clear plastic and if you push a little button, there's a red light inside. That's always been my dream. If there were like, vein shaped tubes inside for the light to go through, that'd be awesome.

Anyhow, I'm getting the soundtrack, though I don't really know what any of the tracks are except VB theme. Hopefully one of those is secretly the OSI song.

My only wish is that haunting theme at the end of Invisible Hand of Fate but Jackson said on his blog that it was merely library music and not going to be made available :(

And yeah, the OSI theme song would have been killer too! I've watched that clip a dozen times and it still cracks me up.

Of course, anyone out there with access to the Turner library music (it's available on CD) would conceivably be able to pluck it out and put it in circulation...

...but I haven't seen it yet. If we at least knew what the title of the library track was, we'd be able to get it.

Where is this library available on CD??

I found it available for sale a few months ago, when I was devoting a lot of time to tracking down that file. I even came across a torrent of it, but I think it was going to take something like 3 weeks to download. (No exaggeration.)

If you're serious about it, I can try to track it down again and give you a link to where you can buy it.

The thing is, though, without knowing the track name, it's going to take a hell of a long time to listen to every track in the library one by one.

I'll try to find it again if you're interested in trying.

Nevermind, I found it more quickly than I thought.

15 CDs. These are all of the royalty-free tracks that Turner is currently authorized to use (or was, as of the CD release), so there's a damn good possibility the song is buried on there, somewhere.

Thanks!
600 bucks...sigh. Oh well, to be expected I suppose.

I wonder if Jackson would be willing to spill the beans.

I've been able to compare the new region 2 release of season one with the original region 1 release, and there are some minor differences.

Region 2 has one extra "bonus feature," which is labelled as a collection of "trailers" for other Adult Swim shows. This would have been kind of cool if they'd actually collected (or created) commercials for the shows, but instead, almost all of them are actually just the opening titles from the shows. So you get to watch the opening sequences from Sealab 2021, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Brak Show and a few others. Lame.

The other difference is a negative one: the music has been stripped from the sub menus. The only tracks that remain are the opening theme (disc 1) and the closing theme (disc 2). None of the submenus have any music at all.

This strikes me as interesting, because the choice to reencode the menus without music was obviously intentional; my guess is that the tracks are being removed because they will appear on a future soundtrack release (or something similar) and they don't want people ripping the tracks from the DVD for free. We'll see if future region 1 pressings are missing the music as well.

Unfortunately certain audio dropouts remain on this release; they were not corrected. The most obvious one is in the first episode, during which The Monarch shares his desire to find his butterfly family again. The dropout obscures the beginning of the word "parents." Does anyone happen to have an original broadcast recording of that episode? Was it a problem from the very beginning?

Adult Swim has started selling the soundtrack at their site.

$12 for the CD or $18 for LP. LP has only 16 tracks, by the way.

Cool. So that's the one that comes with the bluray, right? The site doesn't mention anything about the bluray coming with the cd. I'm assuming in stores they'll be bundled together... and never not bundled on, like, a store by store basis...

I need that CD. :p

this soundtrack will be amazing; the cover alone is to die for! for those keeping score, my latest understanding is that other than being included with tyhe Blu Ray release, the only way to get it is through Adult Swim's William Street shop, thus ensuring a dare-i-say excessive shipping fee.

meanwhile, for what comes out to be just a little over 10 bucks more, you can get it included with the nicely discounted blu ray, and ordering it with the really nicely discounted standard version will ensure free shipping.

i think it's an obvious choice; come on, let's get those venture brothers sales rankings up there!

This is what the word is from JG Thirlwell's website:

- The soundtrack will be available in digital download, CD and vinyl formats.

- The CD is a WilliamsStreet.com exclusive, which can only ship to the USA and Canada (the later with a ridiculous shipping fee).

- The vinyl will be available in retail. It should come with a coupon for the 20-track digital download.
