A man named Shiela?
The theme of the Venture Bros universe seems to be you have your Christian name till you fall in a vat of glowing worms and have to find a catchy superhero title.
I had always assumed that if Dr. Girlfriend had ever been a man, a botched experiment caused the gender flip-er-roo. If she thinks of herself as Shiela, that suggests to me that was her original name.
An affront to science and God himself still could have caused the voice lowering, forever ruining her career in modeling and forcing her to take a darker path, but the name thing proves to me at least that it's not a man, baby.

It was just a wild "shot in the dark" thrown out for fun and speculation, I'm of the same opinion, given the fact that we now know her real name is Sheila.

Sheila could be a reference to Tone Loc's song Wild Thing "...Sheila was a man..."

Sheila is also Australian slang for a young woman or girl. I wouldn't try reading to much into her name.

It was always pretty obvious to me that the gag with Dr. Girlfriend was that she was a very feminine woman cursed with a deep voice, not that she was a "dude". A dude with a deep voice just isn't a good gag.

I don't understand this fascination people have with trying to see Dr. Girlfriend as male or "formerly male". A man with a deep voice - where's the gag in that?

Like I said, I don't think (nor do I want to believe) that she is/was a man, I just think that Brock's comment (in Hate Floats) "I'm still lookin' for scars on her."
is funny as Hell...

I'm sure that the Beautiful Woman with the husky/flemmy rumbling voice IS the gag but I'm just sayin'

I'm not buying the Dr. Girlfriend as a man angle, although, if it were the case, I'd guess it to be some kind of super-science experiment gone wrong instead of the traditional sex-change operation.

or maybe she's about to tell the monarch that she wants to quit being a villain and wants to be good guys? that would be the best!!! why else would she want monarch to stop arching the venture clan?
