At the beginning of the episode, the ghost of 24 suggests that 21 should write down what he now knows onto a golden plate. This is a reference to Joseph Smith, Jr. who was supposedly told my the angel Moroni of the golden plates from which the Mormon religion derived.

The cardboard flame guy is in fact Dormammu ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dormammu ), nemesis of Dr. Strange. He kinda looks like Torrid, too.

It could also be noted that the Outrider, while clearly inspired by Kane, is also designed to look like Mystery, the titular "pick-up artist" of the television show and a main subject in the book The Game.
