Five Years and/or Holidays Mini Giveaways!

Hello folks, we are now launching phase two of the Mantis-Eye Five Years celebration or whatever you want to call it. What celebration would be complete without prizes? Lame ones, probably.

Here's how it works, head on over to the Holidays Mini Giveaway page and enter your name and email in the form for a chance to win the prize of the moment. That's it! I'll be having one of them randomly for the next month-ish, so you have multiple chances to win! There will also hopefully be give aways with even cooler prizes, but I'm going to make you guys work for those. For these ones I'll update the site and Twitter when a new one goes live.

By the way, in case it wasn't clear, you can win something right now!

Huge thanks to Jackson for getting me in touch with someone official at Adult Swim and Vanessa at AS for setting this up. She was also completely awesome in every way possible which includes resending the package after someone apparently stole it from from my apartment building. Bunch of savages in this town. Enjoy!

Five Years of Mantis-Eyes

Greetings, friends! I know we're still in the midst of season four point one, but you may have noticed a little crest at the top of the site and wondered what it's all about. Well, obviously it's about five years of television show fansite, uh, existence. Yes, exactly five years ago today the Mantis-Eye Experiment launched as a celebration of the Venture Bros. I'm kicking off a couple weeks of festivities with a boring history article: A Mantis-Eye Retrospective. I assure you this is the least exciting of all the things to come, but for now it's all you get.

I'm not going to reveal what exactly the near future holds just yet, but I assure you that, as fans of the show, you will hopefully enjoy the hell out of them. Stay tuned!

The Better Man Discussion

Hey kids, welcome back! After last week's repeat it's time to start up the new episodes again, though only for two weeks. Tonight we'll be discussion The Better Man (feel free to vote on the episode there) which promises the triumphant return of the Order of the Triad. As always, the comments will have spoilers, so keep out if you're not into that.

Update (12/7 at 3:40pm) - The episode is up on AS Video now for all you without cable TV (or who may have missed the last seven minutes).

Season 4.1 Finale Promo

Ever gracious, Adult Swim has posted the promo for the final episode of this half of season four, Pinstripes & Poltergeists. Just something to think about before the airing of The Better Man later today (or technically tomorrow, if you want to do that dance).

Thanks to 'A Viewer' for pointing this out.

Second Chances

For those of you who may have missed an episode of season four point one but also refuse to watch them on your personal computer you should note that AS has released their upcoming schedule and every episode (except for Blood of the Father, Heart of Steel, which already reaired last weekend) will air in order starting the weekend after the finale in two weeks. So that's starting on the night of December 20th at midnight (technically the 21st if one wanted to get technical). Same Venture-time, same Venture-channel.

Did I just kill premature ejaculation?

It's late but I wanted to get this out of the way since I'm already behind due to the holiday weekend. Anyway Self-Medication capsule/notes/screenshots are up. As always post corrections/additions/etc here (or email me if you prefer).

The Better Man Promo

Not wanting some dude on YouTube to steal all the glory, looks like AS has started putting 'next time' Venture Bros. promos on their video site. Here's the one for The Better Man:

Thanks to Red Menace in the comments for finding this! Also even though the promo says 'tonight' the episode isn't airing until next Sunday. Tonight you can catch Blood of the Father, Heart of Steel again.

Even More Product!

I know there's no new episode on this week, which is sad, but fear not because you can still spend a lot of money on Venture Bros. related items. Here's the latest (and fanciest) batch:
  • Venture Industries Cuff Links ($40.00) - For the Venture fan who also maybe has to wear a suit every so often (come on, I know there's some of you out there). They're inconspicuous enough that you might not even be asked to explain them by anyone!

  • Dr. Killinger Neck Tie ($40.00) - To go with your cuff links, perhaps? Made from what I can only assume is the smoothest silk...en polyblend, this tie is sure to give you a free pass to calling people silly billys all day. Also it makes wearing a tie fun!

  • Guild of Calamitous Intent Tie Tack ($25.00) - And hey, what better accessory to compliment your Killinger tie than this GOCI tie tack? I think those things, like, hold your tie in place. You could also use it to maybe stab your sickliest enemies. Five bucks off if you buy it with the tie.

  • Brock Baseball Tee ($25.00) - Featuring a piece of the the Bill Sienkiewicz art from the first season DVD, this shirt will let you know that you are a big fan of killing guys. Or at least a fan of a guy who kills a lot of guys. I dunno, I bought one so that's my best sales pitch.

  • Killinger Comic-Con T-Shirt ($20.00) - These were apparently sold and/or given away at Comic-Con this year, so if you missed that here's your chance. It's kind of like the shirt club version except the logo is centered and huge. Come on, I know you don't wear ties but you totally wear black t-shirts all the time. Don't deny it.

What does the future hold for us as far as Venture-related goods and services? I have no idea but I don't know if they're going to stop now. There's still twp episodes to go!

Self-Medication Discussion

Good evening, fellas. It's time for your weekly episode discussion thread! This week's episode is of course Self-Medication which features guest voices from John Hodgman (The Daily Show), Seth Green (Robot Chicken), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille) and Brendan Small (Metalocalypse, Home Movies). As always the comments will contain spoilers, so enter at your own risk. Enjoy!

Update (11/23 12:30am) - You can rate the episode on the capsule page by the way.

Update (11/23 4:38pm) - The episode is up on Adult Swim Video. Go!

Oh, you've got tons of Batman!

Having a good weekend, friends? Enjoy this Revenge Society capsule and feel free to let me know about any omissions or errors here or via email. And don't forget to watch Self-Medication tomorrow night at midnight!

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
