Book It: Venture Bros. Between Season Special Later This Year

Saw over on Adult Swim Central that the Venture Bros. between-seasons special has been formally announced and slated for release sometime this year:

THE VENTURE BROS. SPECIAL - Space. The final frontier, where no one can hear you scream, revenge is only served cold, and the drinks are comped in the casino. Join the Ventures—and pretty much everyone they’ve ever crossed paths with—as they rocket to the Gargantua-2 space station for an epic, hour-long adventure that will change the Ventureverse as we know it forever. Created and directed by Jackson Publick and written by Publick and Doc Hammer, both of whom also provide voices for the special, The Venture Bros. Special is being animated by Titmouse, Inc. The half-hour animated special premieres on Adult Swim later this year.

No word on if the special is an hour or half hour, but either way, Venture Bros. on the way in 2014! Thanks to Papa Thorn and Adam for sending me the news.

"Art of the Venture Bros" Art Book Officially Announced by Dark Horse

It was laready mentioned by Jackson and Doc last Comic-Con, but Dark Horse has formally announced The Art of the Venture Bros., a huge art book chock full of Venture history.

This massive coffee table book includes original artwork, character designs, storyboards, painted backgrounds, and props from every episode of The Venture Bros. to date, with accompanying commentary on the development of the series from cocreators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer!

Check out the earliest sketches of all your favorite Venture Bros. characters and the genesis of the ideas that became some of the show’s funniest episodes.

To top it off, comedian Patton Oswalt pens a very special foreword!

The book will be on sale starting October 22nd this year, and you can already pre-order it on Amazon for under $30 (the price seems to be fluctuating, it's $27.25 right now).

Venture Bros. Back On The Air

After a lengthy hiatus, Adult Swim is finally putting Venture Bros. back on the air. Starting this Sunday, April 6th, at 8pm Eastern/Pacific time (adjust for your timezone accordingly) you can catch a one-hour block of episodes from the very beginning, season one. The second episode in the block will also reair the next morning (or later that night, depending on your sleep schedule and employment status) at 5am. You can always stay on top of the schedule (except when I forget to update it) by checking the official Mantis-Eye Venture Bros. schedule. Official for this site, but not Adult Swim, that is. They have their own, but it's got a bunch of other shows on it so it's harder to figure out.

Reminder: Venture Bros. Season 5 DVD and Blu-Ray on March 4th

I know it's been a while, but time apart is good for us, I swear! We'll be back together before you know it! At any rate, just a quick reminder that the Venture Bros. season five Blu-Ray and DVD are out in a few short days: on March 4th! If you're into it, there's still plenty of time to pre-order them from Amazon and get them just in time. The Blu-Ray version is $24.96 and the DVD is $18.96. You could also go out and buy them from the store if you prefer, but you're on your own in that case.

Venture Bros. Season Five DVD/Blu-Ray Revealed!

Sometime earlier today the art and release date for the Venture Bros. season five DVD/Blu-Ray was released! You can check out the art below (click for a bigger version) and the release date is currently March 4th, 2014 for both formats. All season five episodes will be included, as well as "From The Ladle To The Grave..." and "A Very Venture Halloween" (technically part of season five's arc). You can also pre-order the DVD version on Amazon for a mere $17.49. No specific word on any extras just yet, though there will be the usual episode commentaries from Jackson and Doc.

Super Late: NYCC 2013 Wrap-Up

We may be in the middle of the long Venture-gap but that doesn't mean I can't update you with a list of interviews and videos from this year's NYCC! Sorry for being tardy, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

NYCC Venture Bros. Panel Video

Adult Swim has posted a video of (most?) of the Venture Bros. panel from NYCC earlier in the month! Since we're in between-season limbo there's no new footage or anything, but plenty of Jackson and Doc. If you've got 45 minutes, you should check it out!

Venture Bros. Panel at NYCC 2013

As is the custom, Jackson and Doc will be hosting a Venture Bros. panel at this year's New York Comic Con. The panel is on Friday, October 11th at 4pm on the main stage, 1-D. NYCC runs from October 10th until the 13th this year. No word on any potential special guests just yet, but stay tuned.

Cash In Those Hankbucks For A Hankbuck Towel

Or more accurately a discount on your very own Hankbuck towel. The Venture Bros. crew at Titmouse are offering up a Hankbuck towel for a mere $25. However if you have any Hankbucks (one came with each Shirt Club shirt) print out this form on Astrobase Go!, fill it out and mail it in with your Hankbucks for a discount. Each Hankbuck is worth one buck off the towel, meaning if you were a subscriber the towel can be yours for only $15!

Film School Rejects Interviews Jackson and Doc

Film School Rejects has a nice post-season 5 interview with Jackson and Doc that delves into a lot of creative process stuff, as well as fan interaction, budgets and so on. It's a good interview as it's not the typical set of standard Venture Bros. questions which is something I always appreciate.

The Venture Bros. Panel from NYCC 2016 is archived on Twitch at the mail channel. Some minor spoilers to follow... Orpheus and Dermott have both been written in to Season 7, though the latter in small doses. They are finishing working on the scripts and they hope to start production in the next month or two. They have said this before but the first episode of Season 7 will act as a finale to Season 6. (Much like how the Gargantua-2 special ended Season 5 on a proper note). They are very conscious that the past two seasons have not had a proper finale and they are trying to fix that in Season 7. While they have not been renewed for a Season 8, they HAVE NOT been cancelled. In fact, they said they are specifically not writing Season 7 as if it were the last one. Finally, The Art of the Venture Bros. is still a go! It has expanded into a much bigger book than they imagined and Ken Plume has been doing the work on it. It has material from all six seasons, and it sounds like an in-depth interview that spans the entire book. Release date and information still to come.
