Great synopsis and commentary as always!

Thanks! One thing I really want to know is what the scene with Pete and Billy tied in the crater is a take on. It really feels like something from a movie or something but I can't find much (though it's pretty hard to search for)

I believe it's a Raiders Of The Lost Ark reference. Something similar happens in that movie, if I remember correctly, and it would fit with all the Indiana Jones references that pop up in Billy and St. Cloud's interactions.

The blow darts from picking up the idol in the X-2 are definitely a Raiders reference though.

Here I thought it was Interview with a Vampire where Someone and That Girl in School Ties get burned to a crisp having been left out in the Sun.

Or not.

Anyways, the rest is definitely Raiders.

I mentioned the same thing in the episode comments, but the dialogue and being tied down in the manner they were are probably references to something else.

Someone in another thread said it was from one of the Riddick films.

White literally burning in the sun is, but the whole 'being tied to stakes in the desert so you dehydrate/die' thing is a scene in some other movie.

The burning in the sun is from 'Chronicles of Riddick', as I mentioned in the other thread. The only movie that I have been able to come up with that somewhat matches the being tied down in the sun is 'The Scorpion King'.

It's not 'Interview with a Vampire' since they were left in a pit type thing. There was a scene in book 'The Vampire Lestat' where something kind of similar happened though...so it could be based loosely off of that.

Your synopses are always great, but this one goes above and beyond. A great, thoroughly-researched guide to what is probably my favorite episode of season five. Keep up the good work!

Great job, pally. Other than the Raiders references I've already mentioned, I have nothing to add.

Another James Bond reference that was missed in the notes, and also the first "Goldfinger" reference of the episode. The whole white tuxedo slash dinner jacket deal under the drysuit thing that Jonas did at the head of the episode was also done by Sean Connery in "Goldfinger" in 1964.

a drysuit, btw, is just like a wetsuit, but it keeps you dry underneath.

Probably important in the long run, when Gentleman and Kano show up in the speedboat (35 sec in), Monarch's parents are on it...

Someone posted this comparison pic on imdb and it's a good one:

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
