Wow. That was some great animation right there. Loved every second of it.

I'm actually a bit worried now, what with all this talk about character development and making the show more accessible and not guaranteeing a huge fight in every episode. Also, the animation in those clips is so smooth and consistently on model and that's so different. I'm a huge fan of Season 1 of Superjail! and I hope that I like Season 2 as well. I hope they don't water it down from the adrenaline soaked, no holds barred, beautiful in its own way glory of Season 1.

Ahh, Jared was a little stiff, and Warden was pretty static when he was all cut up, but in the first clip Warden's design was all over the place. He looked like Popeye in a few drawings! It isn't quite Augenblick arbitrary but it's still pretty interesting to look at.

The thoroughness of the animation definitely has me looking forward to Titmouse's 11-minute Venture project.

Still worried. A lot of it felt like a totally different show tonight. I mean, I can live with them not using Augenblick animation- it loses a lot of life but it's not a huge thing- but Jared with confidence and secrets? Barely any violence? The criminals actually being civil with Jared as Jared and treating the Warden with anything less than reverential fear? I don't know. We'll have to wait and see how the season goes.

I don't think the animation looked any worse or better. There was less complete insanity but the animation that existed was out of control. Lots of off-model stuff and wacky things going on. I also like that it was done in Flash but there was almost no tells that it was via the usual ways. I don't think I have seen a Flash-animated show that went so far to avoid Flash animation shortcuts since Birdman.

The plot stuff I will give you though. I was kind of surprised that the inmates went after the Warden, or even that he was regulated to a punching bag running gag at all. I do appreciate them trying something new as far as the plotlines go though purely because all of the episodes in season one (with a few exceptions) are very same-y in that regard.

But hell, the show has always been a pretense for showing off ridiculous animation and they certainly seem like they are trying to bring that this season, so I approve of that for certain.

"H", I kind of agree after watching the 'sode; even when the models were freaking out the individual drawings were never quite as fun or as complete as those from season one. A lot of shots were staged in a very compressed, three-quarter kind of view that the first season managed to avoid for the most part. Generally the colors were just as nice as those from before though, so we'll see in future episodes.

And I agree with both of you about the script, it was weird that it had so many dialogue and story based gags rather than the mostly sight gags of last season, and Warden's role didn't really jive with his character. Isn't he, like, the most magic guy ever?

In an unrelated matter, is anyone else (especially anyone from Canada) having trouble getting the Venture Bros. Season 4 bluray and volume 2 DVD? It's not listed on the websites for BestBuy or Futureshop or HMV and it's definitely not in stock at HMV. It's like it never came out. What's the deal?

They lost me after the cancer girl episode, brought back a lot of really painful memories personally.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
