Discussion: The Season 4.1 DVD And More

Since everyone has been talking about it and it came out on Tuesday, why not have a little discussion thread involving the new DVD which contains the first eight episodes of season four? Let your thoughts be heard! Take a picture of yourself pointing at your DVD, discuss the relevance of the nipple hair, whatever. You can also talk about the last seven episodes, what you think will go down in the finale and basically anything Venture Bros.-related you want. Have fun!

Ok, let's see. First of all, great set, highly recommend getting it. The box I like, very nice but we've seen that. The inner case, also nice but as I've said, ATHF Vol. 7 did basically the same thing. The Modern Enemy cover, very very cool. I'd love to read some of those articles. I don't know if anybody noticed but there's a coupon on the back for free standard shipping on any non-DVD Venture item at the AS Shop. That's cool, gonna have to check that out.

Now the DVD itself, nice but we've seen that. The menus, simple but nice. Deleted scenes, I would have liked an episode by episode screen like in previous releases but this is a single disc release so it's alright. Comic-Con trailer and lost opening I've seen but nice to have anyway. The commentaries, phenomenal! Best commentaries yet, even though their Quicktime craps out early so they have to bullshit even more. Lots of interesting info about these and the current eight. They really seem to know what the fans want to hear. I'd love to know what they were talking about midway through Self Medication that had to be edited out.

I just got it. I know I got ripped off but not by Adult Swim or Astrobase but by the store where I got it from. $40.01... I wanna return it and get it from Amazon but I also want
to listen to the commentaries now. : (

What to do? I wanna keep it but the Idea of saving at least 10 bucks is really tempting.

Very good commentaries. I think I found evidence for my Theory--which is mine--that the reason The MONARCH [!--Ed.] hates Dr. Venture is because Rusty snickered during one of Malcolm's reading in their creative writing class in college. In the deleted scenes, there is a line from The MONARCH [!--Ed.] which I will not spoil--in the Self-Medication episode.

I love this site and the Season Capsules. I have an additional reference for you from Season 2's first episode. When Dr. O is walking through the frozen wasteland of Hell, he steps on the face of someone who says he was a Roman soldier, but is really there because he's a liar. I believe this scene is also a reference the the Robin Williams movie "What Dreams may Come." In the movie, when the hero travels to hell, part of the ground is paved with the faces of the damned, and when he accidently steps on one of them, they have a conversation much like Dr. O's and the liar is this episode.

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
