Venture Bobbleheads Revealed!

If you recall back when Venture Bros. toys were first announced, along with the lovingly-debated Mego-style figures, promises of bobbleheads were also made. However bobbleheads were nowhere to be seen! But no more, my friends! Behold:

Click for bigger.

My super-secret sources tell me these will stand around seven inches tall and are 'brimming with attitude' which sounds like it's going to be a lot of trouble but they're just toys so I think you can manage it. Just make sure you feed them. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch is also exclusive to Entertainment Earth.

As you might expect, you can pre-order these with the following handy EE links: the Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch and both will set you back an affordable $12.99 each. Enjoy!

I have to say, I'm actually really disappointed with the "kitschy" (or whatever you want to call it) direction they've opted to go in as far as merchandising. Personally, I've never ever understood the allure of the bobble-head doll, and while the mego style is all "retro", the whole "doll" style doesn't interest me. I'd really hoped for some proper figures ala McFarlane or similar 6" versions.

Love this show dearly, and I'd really hoped I'd one day be able to begin assembling the entire strange and hilarious menagerie in the disused credenza in my office. Instead, this is what we get. This, to me, was a real missed opportunity to capitalize on the demand built up over the last 6+ years which they have deliberately created by releasing next to nothing.

For my money (or in this case, not) this is a merchandising fail. Too bad. If they'd done REAL figures, I'd have bought every single one.

Alternatively, I feel the opposite. I think the style of the products they have chosen match the same feeling I get from watching the show. I can't really see see any of the VB crew as highly detailed 12" figures permanently stuck in one "action" posse, with the exception of Brock, since hes a Bad Ass.

Granted, I actually like the throw back to vintage and retro toys, considering the setting of the show. In a way, I almost consider these toys and bobble heads like props, in the sense that they look like they could appear in the show themselves.

If Jackson and Doc wanted to make your stereotypical 3 inch figures with 8 points of articulation they could have, and it probably would have saved them a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. But rather they decided to make a product that to me is almost like a continuation of the show, that you can take and hold in your hands.

I will not go as far as to say these toys are a success. Not a lot of people share my high regard of the toys, and I am not trying to say anyone who does not is wrong. The reality is these toys have divided fans, and because of that this may indeed be a participial merchandising failure. But I know I am going to buy as many of the bobble heads and figures as my wallet can allow.

I completely agree that the style of toys has created a divide in the VB fanbase. And I honestly hope they turn out fantastic.

BUT, I can pretty much guarantee that if they had gone the 6" tall McFarlane, fully articulated route, no divide would exist. People would be falling over them left and right.

I still have high hopes for the action figures.....and really really want one.

Have to agree. I'm not a fan of the Toys. Personally, I have no need for Venture Action Figures, and Bobbleheads don't much interest me, so I'll stick with spending my pennies on the DVD's, and leave the Merch to the rest of you.

To me, this is a step in the right direction. I can understand and appreciate the decision to do the Mego style figures but the characters just don't seem to translate as well that way. There is an angularity to the animation style that only harder materials can convey. The bobbleheads look good and I hope that they make more of them. Of course 6" would be optimum, but bobbleheads are nice as well.

I think the sculpts from the figures do a much better job of representing the "angularity" of the show's style. The bobbleheads look kinda forced and phony to me, and the angles of the figures are pretty developed, concise, and expressive (if you ask me.)

While I don't care for bobbleheads, I actually may buy one of these. I don't really see the appeal of a character's head wiggling, but they still look nice and wouldn't be bad on your shelf. *lol*

COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC, but still somewhat Venture Related-

I went and saw IronMan 2 last night......First of all, It was horrible.
Second (*************Kind of spoilers ahead**********): It ripped off 20 years to midnight! If you've seen it, Think about it; The whole message on a Super-8, from the genius scientist father to his son, which he finds right around his birthday, that shows him how to build a new-never before seen item......I'm just saying, it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it last night.

Well they said they were changing Brock almost entirely so that could be it, or partially it or something. It does look different but it's hard to tell too much because the video is so tiny. We'll know for sure soon enough though, these will be ready for SDCC (July 22nd) I believe.

I heard Adult Swim is cleaning house for the purpose of giving shows like Tim & Eric larger budgets. Venture Bros. are pretty safe aren't they? I'd hate to see the quality of the show suffer for the purpose of giving Tim & Eric more money to bring in celebrities to rub melted velveeta cheese on their chests and sing songs about their pubic hair.

They've said a bunch of times that this is the last season for T&E, so I seriously doubt there's truth to this.

"Cleaning house" is fine. They do it periodically. Sometimes, yes, great shows are swept away in the process, but Venture's not going to be among them, what with being one of their most profitable shows on DVD and a merchandising blitz on the horizon.

Hardly anybody agrees with you, for whatever reason. Tim and Eric are brilliant satirists and their shows are wicked good.

Jackson himself has personally (if indirectly) endorsed them once or twice.

Hey guys. I know this doesn't have anything to do with bubble heads but anyways...
Today I was listening to Phil's version of jetboy, jetgirl and I had to draw the guy. I mean, he's wearing a henchman's uniform and singing the freaking song.

The drawing is in the url link but I will put it here too. I hope you like it. It gotta do with The Venture Bros. and oh well. :P

'don't know where this fits in, except that it's freagin awesome! JG Thirwell presents Steroid Maximus live for free on June 18 at Brooklyn's Prospect Park Bandshell. Along with a huge orchestra, he'll perform songs from the album Ectopia. Jackson Publick has spoken about how this album was influential in turning the Venture Bros. into a moving animated project. A lot of the songs can be heard throughout the pilot, as well. And the clincher, direct from foetus.org, they will perform "selections from the score of The Venture Bros." So, near or far, come on down, i'll keep a cold Red Mocho Cooler for ya!

Okay, Venturoos. Here's what ya get for the Extras, at least on the DVD version. I felt it was a little light, but that's just my opinion. Deleted Scenes (as always) - Some are B&W sketches with the dialog, others are animated with the dialog. Ghost in the Pro-Blem - An extended view of the distorted images of events from the Pro-BLEM's point of view. Maybe there are some clues hidden in it if you like frame-by-frame advancing. Maybe not. Sirena Goes Off... - Cristin Milioti ad-libbing way more dialog than the script calls for. Poor Rocco. Promo - Basically the season 7 promo. Maybe there's Easter Eggs to find. I haven't done any extensive searching yet. If anyone finds any feel free to post them here!
