Interview With Jason Lenzi (Again)

Some things happen only once in a lifetime, but me interviewing Jason Lenzi is more of a monthly occurrence apparently. After all the hoopla surrounding the new Venture Bros. figures he's toiled over to bring us, Jason contacted me with the desire to set the record straight as well as explain a few things that people might not quite understand. He asked, so then I asked, and he answered. It's informative and maybe it will even put some minds at ease.

To be frank we're all very pleased with our sculpts, Jackson especially, so there will be minor tweaks here and there to the heads. But the outfits and accessories are all going to change: materials, colors, lengths, tightness, etc, etc, etc. Not to beat the proverbial dead horse, but people need to understand that we (again, that's all of us involved in this process) very much wanted to have physical specimens to show in time for NY Toy Fair, to show to the world, fans, and retailers. It's always better than not having anything at all.

Glad to hear some company response on the issue. Sounds like my suspicions are true: these figures are still a work in progress and the end product will look good.

I feel a bit better but I'm still wary. I think I'll reserve judgement for now, and we'll see what SDCC brings.

Yeah, still at that price I think I'll still reserve judgement until I see the real deal before I buy any. But It's nice to know they're taking notice of the fan's concerns.

Sounds like we were whiny enough to warrant some damage control, woo! I'm still waiting for the final product as well, but I'm a lot more optimistic now.

10 months is about average for most productions. South Park just has a really fast turnaround due to the software they use and the fact that almost everything happens in one building. Most shows have a place for storyboarding/writing, another for voice recording, then have the bulk of the animation done somewhere else (usually overseas). After they get that back, they check it for animation errors, any of which are sent back for redoing. Then they score and foley the episode, edit it down for time and any content issues before finally being finished.

April Fools! I learned so much on the website. I had no idea mantids were so awesome; although ghost mantis creeps me out. Also was warned that "mantidies are our lords and masters" and "there is no stopping them" and "recommend buying a flame thrower"...this is all good to know ahead of time. Lisa is a prophet!

Lets help Mike keep the notes section of each episode's page as complete as possible. There are lots of references that are not included on those pages; point out what should be added so Mike can add it!
