Another running joke: All of Dr Z's drinking pals were in the music industry, further going with the Sovereign's Guild being all 70s rock stars. Also, Shrill Spector's weapon refs "the wall of sound".

And the club they got kicked out of, Whiskey a No Go is clearly the legendary Whiskey a Go Go in West Hollywood, CA where many up and coming young talents played.

Marquee has; the Germs, Blondie & the Runaways!! Also has a large Ramones post and a large billboard that is an ad for "Near Encounters of the Other Kind" & "We Are Almost Alone".

And just down the street is a billboard for "Killer Whale" which is a take on the movie Orca, which also came out in '77. You can also see the OSI surveillance van parked next to the club and the Hale Brothers' convertible drives by in the opening shot of the flashback, but that's probably just them reusing animation models like they do with background people, which is why we see Skye all over the place.

Damn, that way driving me nuts...so obvious now that I see the spelling.
I kept having Siouxsie and the Banshees (a Shrill Spectre is obviously a banshee to me) stuff rattling around in my head.
Now that I think about it, they seem to avoid punk and post-punk stuff somehow.
