Season Three News?
If you periodically take a gander at the AS schedule you may have noticed this interesting bit scrawled at the bottom of the most recent one:
What does this mean? Well, 3rd & 4th Q of course means the 3rd and 4th quarter of (I assume 2007), which would be July through December. The number after each show would be the number of episodes ordered (or planned). Yes, that's a '26' after Venture Bros.
So, twenty-six new episodes? Possibly starting late next year? Season three is of course more of a reality than season two was at this point, so a renewal wouldn't be very shocking, however a 26 episode season would be crazy. It's also possible that those 26 episodes could be seasons three and four. Either way we can't say until there's something more official I guess. So just hold onto your butts. Okay? Good.

i read on the wiki page for metalocalypse that there is going to be 20 new episodes next season, which is delightful, and also lends more credibility to this note. not that it really requires it.
i kind of doubt that there will be 26 episodes in one season, and if there were there'd be two arcs, seperated by a month or two, ala lost this season, but regardless, knowing that 23 more episodes are in the works is fantastic to hear. read. whatever.

A 25-episode season of Venture Brothers would just about make my year.
I don't even mind if they break them up a bit. In retrospect, I actually like that they'd put in off-weeks last season (even if unintentional), since it prolonged the goodness. A new VB every other week for a full year would be fan-freaking-tastic.

True; I am really starting to like Frisky Dingo too. However, Frisky Dingo has story arc, character development, and situational humor, whereas so far Assy McGee is just one joke (walking, talking ass; shoots people, etc.) copy-and-pasted over a very formulaic cop drama storyline. So I'm not too optimistic about Assy McGee. Frisky Dingo's strengths were evident even in the first episode; it just took two or three episodes in order for the story arc to start to suck you in. I don't see that happening with Assy McGee, call it a hunch.

The reason it's 26 could be that when compared with all the other original shows on adult swim, robot chicken, frisky dingo, etc. they take up 11 mins per "episode". Each VB episode is 22 mins i.e. 2 "episodes" worth of content. So 13 episodes of VB is actually 26 "episodes" of content for the network.

That's not the way it works. Adult Swim has both 15 minute and 30 minute shows, and they are numbered by episode, not by 15 minute blocks. Seasons 1 and 2 of Venture Brothers were numbered by 30 minute episodes, not by 15 minute blocks, ie 13 episodes each. So if there are 26 new VB episodes, this means 26 half hour episodes, period.

Don't get yourselves too worked up people. First of all, that Wikipedia entry on 20 new episodes of Metalocalypse was surely based on this same AS Schedule, so take it with a grain of salt.
Secondly, maybe this refers to the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2006, and is just a summation of all the episodes that have aired. There have been 26 episodes of Venture Bros by the end of 2006 along with 20 episodes of Metalocalypse, Robot Chicken's 2nd season was 20 episodes...
All of those entries could have just been to keep track of how many episodes of each series had already aired by the time we reached 4th quarter of 2006. It just seems far too unlikely that there would be a 26 episode season.

I think I'll remain optimistic and hope that there really will be 26 episodes next season. The Venture Bros. doesn't seem to cost all that much to make, according to the first season commentary tracks. Expanding the show to a full season (traditionally 22-26 episodes on network TV for half-hour shows) from 13 shows would be a fantastic idea, but it might kill Doc and Jackson having to put out so many episodes.

If [as] is planning to greenlight 26 more episodes, it will almost have to be two 13-episode seasons. The bad news is that, unless Mike Lazzo makes some major changes, there will not be a season 5. Home Movies went defunct because [as] will only pay for 52 half-hour shows (or, apparently, 104 fifteen-minute shows). So, unless this dumb-ass policy is revoked, don't cheer too loudly...

No, it's not a fake policy. I was really involved with trying to save "Home Movies", and the [as] Buddha basically made a formal statement that [as] limits production to 52 half-hour episodes, or 104 fifteen-minute episodes. There was some kind of pandering like, "yeah, HM is a great show, but our hands are tied."

Personally, I think the numbers refer to the date that the new seasons will begin airing. The numbers are too disparate. They won't make 10 episodes of one show and 26 of another. We can probably expect 13 new shows starting on either Sept., Oct, or Nov. 26th. I hope this will settle everyone down.
